Police: Mother kept baby in drawer, fed him cough syrup ‘like juice’

A mother charged with murder and neglect in the death of her young child kept the 2-month-old boy in a drawer and gave him cough syrup in lieu of juice, court documents said.

More alarmingly, family members and neighbors believed Bambi Glazebrook, 29, Indianapolis, wasn’t feeding her son and told authorities—but no one took action.

On Thursday, Nov. 8, police arrived at a home in the 1200 block of Earhart in response to a 911 call about a child who wasn’t breathing. When officers got there, they found 2-month-old Phillip Robey unresponsive. The boy went to Riley Hospital for Children at IU Health, where doctors pronounced him dead on arrival.

Police interviewed Glazebrook, who told them the child seemed “fussy” about an hour before the 911 call. She said the baby “spent most of the day” in a drawer. When she checked on him at 2:30 p.m, she began to make a bottle. About a half-hour later, Glazebrook said, she changed his diaper and noticed his legs were stiff and he wasn’t breathing. She said she called 911 after waking up her father, Phillip Brahlek.

Investigators said Glazebrook’s account wasn’t true; the boy had been dead for several hours, court documents said.

Police described the conditions inside the home as “deplorable and unfit for human habitation.” They learned the baby was sleeping in a drawer located in an entertainment center in the living room. The victim was “grossly underweight and malnourished.”

Several family members said Glazebrook had a history of neglecting her children; three of her five children were adopted after Child Protective Services removed them from her home. One witness said she called CPS and police multiple times. The Department of Child Services, which oversees CPS, acknowledged receiving at least one recent complaint.

Police interviewed several witnesses who said they’d noticed the boy’s emaciated condition and a general sense of defensiveness from Glazebrook when questioned about Phillip’s health. One witness said she encountered Glazebrook and the child and was concerned because she “rubbed the back of the baby and all she felt were bones,” court documents said.

The witness also noticed dog feces on the floor of the home and described the residence as a disaster. The woman also told police Glazebrook kept the child in a drawer.

A neighbor and relative also noticed the baby’s poor condition and said something appeared to be wrong with Phillip. According to court documents, Glazebrook told her not to worry because she “would handle it.” The woman followed up a few weeks later, again expressing concern about the baby’s condition. Glazebrook told her to “mind her own business,” court documents said.

Another witness said Glazebrook rarely bathed or changed the diapers of Phillip and a 2 year old who lived in the home. That witness also said the mother gave her children liquid cough syrup to “make them go to sleep,” court documents said. Glazebrook dispensed the cough syrup “as if someone would give a child juice.”

The other child has been removed from the home.

An autopsy found that Phillip died from acute failure to thrive/starvation. He weighed less than six pounds and had “absolutely no” fat on his body.

Glazebrook is due in court Wednesday morning.

Marijuana Growers: Hang onto your pot, here come the genetically modified genes!

It is painfully obvious that mad scientists have gone wild and are in charge of our health and food supply. And now, they want to grab hold of Mary Jane, Weed, Cannabis, Pot, Marijuana, or whatever else you want to call it.

Yeah, we know it has medicinal properties, and so do they. That is one of the reasons it has remained illegal for so long. Someone growing a plant in their backyard and foregoing over-the-counter pain medication, or making a tincture that helps fight cancer just might cut into Big Pharma profits, and we can’t have that. At least not until it can be strictly controlled by the very drug companies that specialize in delivering, for a hefty price, a barrage of drugs designed to, at the very least, incapacitate, and not actually cure anything.

So, here it is. The start of something big. Marijuana gone GMO:

Greenhouses lined with genetically modified marijuana sit on a mountainside just an hour ride from Cali, Colombia, where farmers say the enhanced plants are more powerful and profitable.

One greenhouse owner said she can sell the modified marijuana for 100,000 pesos ($54) per kilo (2.2 pounds), which is nearly 10 times more than the price she can get for ordinary marijuana.

Local authorities said the arrival of genetically modified seeds, which are imported from Europe and the United States have allowed “a bigger production and better quality at the same time”.

A police commander in the Cauca region where Cali is located, Carlos Rodriguez, said one of the modified varieties goes by the name, “Creepy”.

Another seed modified in The Netherlands is fetching a good price in the area, said a foreign researcher, who asked to remain anonymous. That version, well-known in Europe as “La Cominera”, is named for the Colombian village where it grows.

“La Cominera’s” higher value is due to its increased concentration of THC, the plant’s principal active ingredient, and the modified plant verges on an 18 percent concentration level, compared to a normal marijuana plant’s two to seven percent, said the researcher. (Yahoo News)

Coincidence that this is going on just as Big Pharma is busy patenting a Marijuana pill? Notice that the genetically modified seeds are imported from Europe, the Netherlands and the United States.

Despite the US government’s staunch opposition to medical cannabis farms in Oakland and elsewhere, the feds have begun licensing a whole lot of large legal pot grows throughout the country. But this weed is not for cannabis dispensaries and their patients; it’s for Big Pharma.

The Drug Enforcement Administration told Legalization Nation in an e-mail last week that 55 unnamed companies now hold licenses to grow cannabis in the United States, a fact that contradicts the widespread belief that there is only one legal pot farm in America, operated under the DEA for research purposes. It appears as if the upswing in federally approved pot farming is about feeding the need of pharmaceutical companies who want to produce a generic version of THC pill Marinol and at least one other cannabis-based pill for a wide variety of new uses. (Cannabis Culture)

Let’s see if I have this straight. Marijuana, natural, grown in your backyard: BAD! Marijuana farms, licensed by the feds and operated by the DEA for Big Pharma, and most likely genetically modified in a laboratory: GOOD! Hey, bubee, don’t you understand that this is bad??? So, off to jail you go for growing a healthy plant in your yard, but if you splice genes in a lab and grow a GM plant, changing that plant from something healthy to something designed to kill, patent it, and hand it over to the drug companies to push, then all the riches of the planet are yours, courtesy of your friendly neighborhood U.S. government.

Boy, two, with brain cancer is ‘cured’ after secretly being fed medical marijuana by his father

Boy, two, with brain cancer is ‘cured’ after secretly being fed medical marijuana by his father

By Daily Mail Reporter

A desperate father whose son was suffering from a life-threatening brain tumour has revealed he gave him cannabis oil to ease his pain. And he has now apparently made a full recovery.

Cash Hyde, known as Cashy, was a perfectly healthy baby when he was born in June 2008 but became sick shortly before his second birthday.

At first he was misdiagnosed with glandular fever before his parents Mike and Kalli, from Missoula in Montana, were given the devastating news he had a serious brain tumour.

The little boy had to have arduous chemotherapy treatment to reduce the growth, which had drastic side effects including seizures and a blood infection.

Cash had to have high-dose chemotherapy which made him very ill

His distraught parents were repeatedly told he was likely to succumb to the illness because the condition was so bad.

After one bout of high-dose chemotherapy, Cash was so weak he could not lift his head and was too sick to eat any solid food for 40 days.

It was at this point that Mr Hyde decided to take action and go down the route of medical marijuana to try to help his young son.

Cash’s doctors refused to even discuss the option but his father went and sought authorisation elsewhere and then secretly administered it through his son’s feeding tube.

He also told doctors to stop giving Cash the cocktail of anti-nausea drugs he had been taking – although he never told them what he was doing.

Mr Hyde told KXLY News that his son started looking better right away.

Mr Hyde said: ‘He hadn’t eaten a thing in 40 days – and, it was really incredible to watch him take a bite of a piece of cheese. It shows that he wants to live’.

He credits the cannabis oil with helping his son get through the chemo, and say Cash has now been declared cancer free by doctors.

The boy is now back and home and living the life of a typical young boy, playing with his elder brother Colty.

Medical marijuana is legal in some states, including Montana, but its use for children is poorly understood and quite rate.

The US federal government does not recognise the legality of using the drug for medical reasons and frequently clashes with states over the issue.

Mr Hyde told KXLY: ‘It’s very controversial, it’s very scary. But, there’s nothing more scary than losing your child.’

Cash is now at home and able to live like a normal little boy
