CIA operators were denied request for help during Benghazi attack

CIA operators were denied request for help during Benghazi attack, sources say

By Jennifer Griffin

Fox News has learned from sources who were on the ground in Benghazi that an urgent request from the CIA annex for military back-up during the attack on the U.S. consulate and subsequent attack several hours later was denied by U.S. officials — who also told the CIA operators twice to “stand down” rather than help the ambassador’s team when shots were heard at approximately 9:40 p.m. in Benghazi on Sept. 11.

Former Navy SEAL Tyrone Woods was part of a small team who was at the CIA annex about a mile from the U.S. consulate where Ambassador Chris Stevens and his team came under attack. When he and others heard the shots fired, they informed their higher-ups at the annex to tell them what they were hearing and requested permission to go to the consulate and help out. They were told to “stand down,” according to sources familiar with the exchange. Soon after, they were again told to “stand down.”

Woods and at least two others ignored those orders and made their way to the consulate which at that point was on fire. Shots were exchanged. The rescue team from the CIA annex evacuated those who remained at the consulate and Sean Smith, who had been killed in the initial attack. They could not find the ambassador and returned to the CIA annex at about midnight.

At that point, they called again for military support and help because they were taking fire at the CIA safe house, or annex. The request was denied. There were no communications problems at the annex, according those present at the compound. The team was in constant radio contact with their headquarters. In fact, at least one member of the team was on the roof of the annex manning a heavy machine gun when mortars were fired at the CIA compound. The security officer had a laser on the target that was firing and repeatedly requested back-up support from a Spectre gunship, which is commonly used by U.S. Special Operations forces to provide support to Special Operations teams on the ground involved in intense firefights. The fighting at the CIA annex went on for more than four hours — enough time for any planes based in Sigonella Air base, just 480 miles away, to arrive. Fox News has also learned that two separate Tier One Special operations forces were told to wait, among them Delta Force operators.

A Special Operations team, or CIF which stands for Commanders in Extremis Force, operating in Central Europe had been moved to Sigonella, Italy, but they were never told to deploy. In fact, a Pentagon official says there were never any requests to deploy assets from outside the country. A second force that specializes in counterterrorism rescues was on hand at Sigonella, according to senior military and intelligence sources. According to those sources, they could have flown to Benghazi in less than two hours. They were the same distance to Benghazi as those that were sent from Tripoli. Spectre gunships are commonly used by the Special Operations community to provide close air support.

According to sources on the ground during the attack, the special operator on the roof of the CIA annex had visual contact and a laser pointing at the Libyan mortar team that was targeting the CIA annex. The operators were calling in coordinates of where the Libyan forces were firing from.

Defense Secretary Leon Panetta told reporters at the Pentagon on Thursday that there was not a clear enough picture of what was occurring on the ground in Benghazi to send help.

“There’s a lot of Monday morning quarterbacking going on here,” Panetta said Thursday. “But the basic principle here … is that you don’t deploy forces into harm’s way without knowing what’s going on.”

U.S. officials argue that there was a period of several hours when the fighting stopped before the mortars were fired at the annex, leading officials to believe the attack was over.

Fox News has learned that there were two military surveillance drones redirected to Benghazi shortly after the attack on the consulate began. They were already in the vicinity. The second surveillance craft was sent to relieve the first drone, perhaps due to fuel issues. Both were capable of sending real time visuals back to U.S. officials in Washington, D.C. Any U.S. official or agency with the proper clearance, including the White House Situation Room, State Department, CIA, Pentagon and others, could call up that video in real time on their computers.

Tyrone Woods was later joined at the scene by fellow former Navy SEAL Glen Doherty, who was sent in from Tripoli as part of a Global Response Staff or GRS that provides security to CIA case officers and provides countersurveillance and surveillance protection. They were killed by a mortar shell at 4 a.m. Libyan time, nearly seven hours after the attack on the consulate began — a window that represented more than enough time for the U.S. military to send back-up from nearby bases in Europe, according to sources familiar with Special Operations. Four mortars were fired at the annex. The first one struck outside the annex. Three more hit the annex.

A motorcade of dozens of Libyan vehicles, some mounted with 50 caliber machine guns, belonging to the February 17th Brigades, a Libyan militia which is friendly to the U.S., finally showed up at the CIA annex at approximately 3 a.m. An American Quick Reaction Force sent from Tripoli had arrived at the Benghazi airport at 2 a.m. (four hours after the initial attack on the consulate) and was delayed for 45 minutes at the airport because they could not at first get transportation, allegedly due to confusion among Libyan militias who were supposed to escort them to the annex, according to Benghazi sources.

The American special operators, Woods, Doherty and at least two others were part of the Global Response Staff, a CIA element, based at the CIA annex and were protecting CIA operators who were part of a mission to track and repurchase arms in Benghazi that had proliferated in the wake of Muammar Qaddafi’s fall. Part of their mission was to find the more than 20,000 missing MANPADS, or shoulder-held missiles capable of bringing down a commercial aircraft. According to a source on the ground at the time of the attack, the team inside the CIA annex had captured three Libyan attackers and was forced to hand them over to the Libyans. U.S. officials do not know what happened to those three attackers and whether they were released by the Libyan forces.

Fox News has also learned that Stevens was in Benghazi that day to be present at the opening of an English-language school being started by the Libyan farmer who helped save an American pilot who had been shot down by pro-Qaddafi forces during the initial war to overthrow the regime. That farmer saved the life of the American pilot and the ambassador wanted to be present to launch the Libyan rescuer’s new school.

Book tells Muslim men how to beat and control their wives

Book tells Muslim men how to beat and control their wives

Terry Davidson, QMI Agency

A local bookstore has “sold out” of a controversial marriage guide that advises Muslim men on how to beat their wives.

The 160-page book, published by Idara Impex in New Delhi, India, is written by Hazrat Maulana Ashraf Ali Thanvi, who’s described in the book’s foreword as a “prolific writer on almost every topic of Islamic learning.”

The store’s manager, who didn’t give his name, said the book had been sold out for some time, and the store’s owner, whom the manager identified as Shamim Ahmad, refused to comment for the story.

It wasn’t clear whether the shop has ordered more copies of the book, but it’s available at online Islamic bookstores and even through eBay.

In the book’s opening pages, it is written that “it might be necessary to restrain her with strength or even to threaten her.”

Later, its author advises that “the husband should treat the wife with kindness and love, even if she tends to be stupid and slow sometimes.”

Page 45 contains the rights of the husband, which include his wife’s inability to leave “his house without his permission,” and that his wife must “fulfil his desires” and “not allow herself to be untidy … but should beautify herself for him … ”

In terms of physical punishment, the book advises that a husband may scold her, “beat by hand or stick,” withhold money from her or “pull (her) by the ears,” but should “refrain from beating her excessively.”

Moderate Muslim voice Tarek Fatah says the shopkeeper should be charged for selling such a book.

“I wouldn’t say it’s hate, but it is inciting men to hit women,” said Fatah, who identified the book’s author as a prominent Islamic scholar. “This is new to you, but the Muslim community knows that this is widespread, that a woman can be beaten. Muslim leaders will deny this, but… ”

Male dominance over women has been making headlines for some time, with the recent lengthy trial and conviction of the Shafia family.

Mohammad Shafia, 59, his second wife, Tooba Yahya, 42, and their son, Hamed, 21, were each convicted in January on four counts of first-degree murder in what was characterized as an honour killing of four female family members as punishment for disobedience. They were handed life sentences with no chance of parole for 25 years.

Shafia’s three daughters and his first wife were found drowned in a car at the bottom of the Rideau Canal in Kingston, Ont., in June 2009.

Eric Brazau says he was flipping through the marriage guide while in the bookstore around a month ago.

Brazau bought it out of curiosity but was taken aback when he found dozens of chapters and passages giving Muslim husbands advice on controlling, restraining, scolding and beating their wives.

“At first, I thought that it is incredible that this kind of thing can be found in Canada,” said Brazau. “And then I thought, radical Islam is not coming to Canada, it is already here.”

White House Won’t Say What Will Happen to Troops Who Burnt Korans

White House Won’t Say What Will Happen to Troops Who Burnt Korans

(CNSNews.com) – In the face of Afghan President Hamid Karzai;s call for the U.S. troops who burned Korans to be tried and punished, the White House won’t say what will happen to those troops.

A reporter asked White House Press Secretary Jay Carney at Thursday’s briefing what would be done with them.

“I think there is an investigation into that,” Carney responded. “You surely understand that I would not make any statements about the disposition of that investigation or how it should turn out.”

The Korans were mistakenly burnt on Bagram Air Force Base.

Obama spoke with Karzai earlier Thursday, Carney said.

As CNSNews.com reported, three days after Obama issued an apology to Karzai for the burning of the Muslim holy book, Karzai responded on Afghan TV that the soldiers should be tried.

In late February, Karzai, according to a BBC translation of his remarks, told the Afghan people, “We call on the US government to bring the perpetrators of the act to justice and put them on trial and punish them.”

At the same time Karzai was demanding the prosecution and punishment of U.S. troops involved in the Koran-burning incident, he conceded that the U.S. government had indicated that the Koran burning “was not deliberate.”

“We all know that regrettably some days ago an American soldier burnt our Holy Koran,” Karzai said, according to the BBC translation. “We condemn this vicious act in the strongest terms. The government and the people, scholars, tribal dignitaries, spiritual figures of Afghanistan, the educated people of our country all share the people’s feelings… Our people’s sensitiveness is right and is laudable.

“The US government says that such act was carried out because of ignorance and lack of knowledge,” Karzai said. “This incident happened as a result of the ignorance of the US military officer about our vision about Islam and not recognizing the Koran. It was not deliberate.”

NATO Promised Karzai To Put American Soldiers On Trial For Burning Koran “As Soon As Possible.

NATO Promised Karzai To Put American Soldiers On Trial For Burning Koran “As Soon As Possible.” Will Obama Prevent This From Happening?

By Jim Campbell

NATO Promised Karzai To Put American Soldiers On Trial For Burning Koran “As Soon As Possible.” Will Obama prevent this from happening?

The recent uproar about US military personnel allegedly burning Qur’an in Afghanistan has resulted in more violence and the demand that NATO put on public trial those who burned them at a NATO base.

After a fifth day of bloody protests over the incident, President Hamid Karzai’s office has asked NATO to proceed with these trials.

According to Military Law established in 1966 this was made permissible. But what is the violation, for the desecration of the enemy’s holy book the sacred Qur’an? Committing such and act would be in violation of Sharia law among its adherents not a violation of military law.

An unfortunate and ill thought gesture but we must never forget following the Qur’an to the letter of its Stone-Age law as Muslims kill fellow Muslims on a daily basis. This is not about stoning, hanging, amputation and dealing with the mandates of Sharia. This is about the killings of Sunni Muslims by Shite Muslims as they are shown currently killing each other in Iraq since U.S. forces left country.

There are 109 verses in the Qur’an dealing with following the will of Allah requiring the death of infidels. This is an absolute violation of Muhammad’s teaching, yet where is the out rage?

Let us not forget that Taliban fighters and al Qaeda thought it perfectly correct to behead the non-combatant Journalists Nick Berg and Daniel Pearl. Where was the outrage when these Somali animals drug the burnt dead decapitated bodies through the streets in Somalia and then displayed them by hanging them from a bridge.

“NATO officials, in response to a request for the trial and punishment of the perpetrators … promised this crime will brought to court as soon as possible,” Karzai’s office said in a statement.

Two things seem necessary. First, we’ve got to change the rules that permit such nonsense at the appropriate level in our government. Secondly, Obama must man up, quit being incompetent and act like a Commander-in-Chief and tell Karzai to cease and desist. If not, Obama already wants an exit strategy. Let him have it and remove our troops now.

That’s my story and I’m sticking to it, I’m J.C. and I approve this message

Muslims Demand All Citizens Stop Celebrating Christmas Or There Will Be Hell To Pay!

Muslims Demand All Citizens Stop Celebrating Christmas

Faithful Muslim leaders in Europe and their allies in United States begin a campaign to stop all of us from wishing ”Merry Christmas”. According to their document just released, we should all go to hell for even putting up Christmas light. They threaten hell to pay on those who celebrate the birth of our God and Savior Jesus Christ.

Will you be intimidated this year and only say “happy holidays” or “seasons greetings” or hide your Christmas tree in schools and censor out Christianity from the front of our public buildings out of fear of what the muslim terrorists might do to you if you dare celebrate the most important event in all of history?

To find out more of the demands of terrorist supporting muslims united in Europe and United States, watch this expose on the one demanding all Christmas celebrations to stop:

Choudary has learned to try to polish his deceitful presentations a bit, but has a hard time containing himself, as revealed during his interviews on BBC revealing his support for terrorists and calling for execution of citizens who leave islam.

Here is the islamic document with famous muslim judge’s quotes from qur’an on why hellfire awaits any who dare to even put up a Christmas tree or Christmas lights during the celebration of The Nativity of our God and Savior Jesus Christ.

In response to their demand, our wishing you and your family a Merry Christmas shall include a response in the language of the Arab Christians who lived peacefully for hundreds of years before islam forced its way through terrorist jihad atrocities on loving Christians and other nonmuslim people around the world. This worship hymn of our LORD is from the Church of Antioch where we were first called Christians.

Arabs received the revelation of God in Christ Jesus during the miraculous descent of The Holy Spirit in Power at Pentecost as shown in Acts 2:11. Despite all the persecution, the Church of Antioch continued faithfully for 2000 years and has local Churches all over the world.

May we all continue to celebrate Christmas and wish one another a “Merry Christmas” and put up our lights and Christmas trees no matter how many of the antichrist factions unite in attacking the birth of our God and Savior Jesus Christ. Long time ago, Herod ordered the murder of all children under the age of two to stop the reign of Christ in the hearts of men, but no more could he stop God than islam can do today.

Do not be afraid! God reigns. Wish someone a Merry Christmas today! Put up your Christmas lights and Trees and Nativity scenes in front of your homes and in public squares. Do not allow sharia law to creep on our land out of fear of “offending” someone. Whether it is received more fully by faith in Christ or simply appreciated by our neighbors, the LOVE of God is a blessing we can share with one another in gentle and kind respect at all times.

For a more life transforming Christmas worship this year, may I humbly also recommend the original Christian practice of entering into times of fasting and prayer prior to celebrating the birth of Christ alongside of other followers of Jesus?

Tony Blair: ” I read the Koran every day”

By Ian Drury

Faith: Tony Blair has now spoken of how he reads the Koran every day

Faith: Tony Blair has now spoken of how he reads the Koran every day

He was notoriously reluctant to discuss religion while Prime Minister, with his chief spin doctor Alastair Campbell famously commenting: ‘We don’t do God.’

But since leaving Downing Street in 2007, Tony Blair has become increasingly open about the importance of religion.

Mr Blair, who converted to Catholicism months after leaving Number 10, has now spoken of how he reads the Koran every day.

Reading the Islamic religion’s holy book – considered by Muslims to be the exact words of God – ensured he remained ‘faith-literate’, the former Labour leader said.

ONE WORLD CHURCH

In an interview with the Observer magazine, published yesterday he said: ‘To be faith-literate is crucial in a globalised world, I believe.

‘I read the Qur’an [Koran] every day. Partly to understand some of the things happening in the world, but mainly just because it is immensely instructive.’

Mr Blair believes that a knowledge of the faith informs his current role as Middle East envoy for the Quartet of the United Nations, United States, European Union and Russia.

The former PM’s work, which has cost British taxpayers more than £2million, aims to help resolve the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

Mr Blair has previously praised the Muslim faith as ‘beautiful’ and said the Prophet Mohammed had been ‘an enormously civilizing force’.

In 2006 he said the Koran was a ‘reforming book, it is inclusive. It extols science and knowledge and abhors superstition. It is practical and way ahead of its time in attitudes to marriage, women and governance’.

But Mr Blair has also faced the devastation wreaked by violent jihadists who interpret the Koran as a call to arms.

Mr Blair said reading the Islamic religion’s holy book – considered by Muslims to be the exact words of God – ensured he remained ‘faith-literate’

He was Prime Minister when the July 7 suicide bombers attacked London in 2005, murdering 52 innocent people.

Not only does reading the Koran support his peace envoy role, it also gives him something in common with sister-in-law Lauren Booth.

Journalist Miss Booth – Cherie Blair’s half sister – raised eyebrows after announcing last October that she had converted to Islam after what she described as a ‘holy experience’ during a visit to a shrine in Iran.

Mr Blair also used the Observer interview to dismiss claims he was on a Christian ‘crusade’ when taking Britain into the highly divisive war in Iraq.

His former constituency agent John Burton said two years ago that Mr Blair ‘believed strongly at the time, that intervention in Kosovo, Sierra Leone – Iraq too – was all part of the Christian battle; good should triumph over evil, making lives better.’

But the ex-Premier said: ‘People still ask me if military decisions in Iraq or Afghanistan were based on some kind of divine instruction. It’s rubbish.
‘Of course not. Just as I couldn’t go into a corner and pray to ask God what the minimum wage should be.’

Iranian Government Says Mahdi ( Islamic Messiah) is ‘Near

Iranian Video Says Mahdi ( Islamic Messiah) is ‘Near’

By Erick Stakelbeck
CBN News Terrorism Analyst

New evidence has emerged that the Iranian government sees the current unrest in the Middle East as a signal that the Mahdi–or Islamic messiah–is about to appear.

CBN News has obtained a never-before-seen video produced by the Iranian regime that says all the signs are moving into place — and that Iran will soon help usher in the end times.

While the revolutionary movements gripping the Middle East have created uncertainty throughout the region, the video shows that the Iranian regime believes the chaos is divine proof that their ultimate victory is at hand.

‘The Coming is Near’

The propaganda footage has reportedly been approved at the highest levels of the Iranian government.

It’s called The Coming is Near and it describes current events in the Middle East as a prelude to the arrival of the mythical tweflth Imam or Mahdi — the messiah figure who Islamic scriptures say will lead the armies of Islam to victory over all non-Muslims in the last days.

This video has been produced by a group called the Conductors of the Coming, in connection with the Basiji — the Iranian paramilitary force, and in collaboration with the Iranian president’s office,” said Reza Kahlil, a former member of Iran’s Revolutionary Guards who shared the video with CBN News.

Kahlili, author of the book, A Time to Betray, worked as a double agent for the CIA inside the Iranian regime.

“Just a few weeks ago, Ahmadenijad’s office screened this movie with much excitement for the clerics,
” Kahlili told CBN News. “The target audience is Muslims in the Middle East and around the world.”

To watch the video in its entirety, visit Kahlili\'s website.

The video claims that Iran is destined to rise as a great power in the last days to help defeat America and Israel and usher in the return of the Mahdi. And it makes clear the Iranians believe that time is fast approaching.

“The Hadith have clearly described the events and the various transformations of countries in the Middle East and also that of Iran in the age of the coming
,” said a narrator, who went on to say that America’s invasion of Iraq was foretold by Islamic scripture–and that the Mahdi will one day soon rule the world from Iraq.

Other ‘Prophetic‘ Signs

The ongoing upheavals in other Middle Eastern countries like Yemen and Egypt–including the rise of the Muslim Brotherood — are also analyzed as prophetic signs that the Mahdi is near — so is the current poor health of the king of Saudi Arabia, an Iranian rival.

“Isn’t the presence of Abdullah, his illness, and his uncertain condition, great news for those anxious for the coming?
” asks the narrator.

Iran’s supreme leader, Ayatollah Khameini, and Hassan Nasrallah, leader of Iran’s terrorist proxy Hezbollah, are hailed as pivotal end times players, whose rise was predicted in Islamic scriptures.

The same goes for Iran’s President Mahmoud Ahmadenijad, who the video says will conquer Jerusalem prior to the Mahdi’s coming.

“I think it’s a very grave development
,” Mideast expert Joel Rosenberg, author of The Twelfth Imam, told CBN News, “because it gives you a window into the thinking of the Iranian leadership: that they believe the time for war with Israel may be even sooner than others had imagined.”

Kahlili says The Coming is Near will soon be distributed by the Iranian regime throughout the Middle East. He explained that their goal is to instigate further uprisings in Arab countries.
