The Untold Knoxville Murders

The Untold Knoxville Murders
by Christopher Plante

Reade Seligmann, Collin Finnerty and David Evans are household names because of a “crime” that never happened.

Channon Christian and Hugh Christopher Newsom were victims of a horrible crime that most certainly did happen, but for some reason, their names wouldn’t ring a bell with the average American, no matter how well informed.

The Duke University lacrosse team’s falsely accused troika had their young lives disrupted and good names dragged through the national media mud for more than a year based on evidence that was suspect almost from the start. The national media took great pride in figuratively lynching the three students because they are white, privileged and went to a prestigious school. It didn’t matter that the case had crumbled — that the media were left with a mentally unstable accuser and a corrupt, power-abusing, race-baiting, liberal, “rogue” prosecutor. To many, the three young men were still the bad guys.

The underlying narrative is that Dukies, Enron, Halliburton, George W. Bush, and mainstream America are all the same. They are “the problem..” They’re racist, sexist, “homophobic,” and they get away with it. The Duke case affirmed this premise. The fact that no crime was ever committed seemed unimportant. The frenzy in the national media served its purpose. For more than a year, they were the bad guys

In the absence of an agenda, why would this story have the resonance it had in the MSM? Was it really the alleged “crime” itself that drew the news-sharks to the smell of blood in the water? No. It was the socio-political (i.e., liberal agenda) factors.

If it had actually been the “crime” that drove the coverage, then the people of Tennessee would have been overwhelmed last January by an invading army of reporters coming to cover a terrible real crime there.

On January 6th, 2007 a double murder was committed in Knoxville that would make Dirty Harry throw up. It has many of the elements that the Duke not-a-rape story had. It has race, and class and gender, as well as rape — but made more horrific by murder. A terrible injustice had been committed against innocent, helpless people at the hands of vicious thugs.

On that night, 21-year-old Channon Christian, and her boyfriend, 23-year-old Hugh Christopher Newsom were carjacked in Knoxville by three thugs. Their attackers were sadly not satisfied with the Toyota 4-Runner that they commandeered at gunpoint. They kidnapped the young couple and took them to the house where one of the perps lived. They were joined by a fourth man and a woman. They proceeded to commit the stomach-churning crimes.

All four men are charged with the anal rape of Christopher Newsom. They did so in the presence of Channon Christian. They then shot him to death, wrapped him in bedding, soaked him in gasoline and set him on fire. He was the lucky one.

Channon Christian was a senior at the University of Tennessee. According to the charges and a source close to the investigation, she was repeatedly gang raped by the four men — vaginally, anally and orally. Before she died, her murderers poured a household cleaner down her throat, apparently in an effort to kill the DNA they had placed there. She was left to die, either from the bleeding caused “by the tearing,” or from asphyxiation. Knoxville officials won’t say.

It was several days before the police found her body. She had been stuffed into a garbage can in the house. According to a story posted on the WATE T.V. News web site, she was, “in five separate dark trash bags.”

The four men and the woman were eventually arrested. They are all black. Christian and Newsom were white. Two of the murderers had prior felony convictions.

So why would the national media treat America to full-immersion coverage of the Duke not-a-rape case, while burying this horrible story? Certainly the editorial yardstick here is not the nature of the crime or the Knoxville murders would easily supercede the Duke not-a-rape. The appalling truth is that the railroading of the Duke students served an ideological purpose, and the Knoxville case does not.

The news media’s collective decision to studiously ignore the Knoxville horror reveals their consistent practice of burying stories whose facts conflict with their established narratives. You don’t hear much good out of Iraq but Paris Hilton’s DUI gets more attention by far than the Knoxville horror. It’s politics, not news.

In “newsroom-think,” giving the Knoxville story the coverage it merits would serve only to reinforce negative notions and contribute to hurtful stereotypes.

Any editor in any major newsroom that showed the poor judgment to push the Knoxville story would be accused, or at least suspected, of racism by their peers. So it doesn’t happen. It’s not as if they sit around the newsroom and openly conspire. They don’t have to. The rules for this sort of thing were laid down years ago. They all know how the game is played. These are the institutional and cultural norms. There is very little dissent.

Importantly, although it is unarticulated, pursuing this story would not contribute to the broader liberal social narrative as the Duke story did. It wouldn’t be another example of white racist violence, as was the case when the media focused extraordinary attention on terrible murder of a black man named James Byrd who was dragged to death in Jasper, Texas by three sick white racists. I’m not arguing that was not a legitimate story: it was. But if it is legitimate for the media is to burn the name of James Byrd into the national consciousness, then why not the name of Channon Christian? Is it because we are not certain that her murderers used racial slurs during the commission of their crime?

Calculated or not, the fact is that the news media’s obsessive focus on stories that fall into the “America bad” category — to the exclusion of stories that may conflict with their narrative serves only to misrepresent the broader realities of our society.

Like it or not, the demonization of mainstream, establishment America is perceived in newsrooms as legitimate. It is also — coincidentally — the goal of the liberal left. On the planet “News,” the perpetrators of this hideous crime in Knoxville can’t be vilified because they have been pre-designated as “victims.” The Dukies on the other hand are ideally suited for vilification because they represent “the establishment” and he “power structure” and are therefore pre-designated as “victimizers.”

The narrative is there to convince us that, “this is who we really are.” It is not.

While the national news media was advancing the agenda by destroying Don Imus for uttering five insulting syllables (“nappy-headed hoes”), they were ignoring this terrifying Knoxville story because it doesn’t contribute to the narrative.

While they were hanging on Duke prosecutor Mike Nifong’s every self-serving and duplicitous devious word, they were ignoring this terrible crime.

Once you view the media product through this prism, it all makes sense again. It doesn’t make it right, but it makes sense. And we can continue to expect blitzkrieg coverage of stories that advance their talking points.

Now back to the latest on Paris Hilton, followed by an update on Natalee Holloway. But that’s a discussion for another day.

Afghan schoolgirls poisoned in anti-education attack

Afghan schoolgirls poisoned in anti-education attack

By Mohammad Hamid

– About 150 Afghan schoolgirls were poisoned on Tuesday after drinking contaminated water at a high school in the country’s north, officials said, blaming it on conservative radicals opposed to female education.

Since the 2001 toppling of the Taliban, which banned education for women and girls, females have returned to schools, especially in Kabul.

But periodic attacks still occur against girls, teachers and their school buildings, usually in the more conservative south and east of the country, from where the Taliban insurgency draws most support.

“We are 100 percent sure that the water they drunk inside their classes was poisoned. This is either the work of those who are against girls’ education or irresponsible armed individuals,” said Jan Mohammad Nabizada, a spokesman for education department in northern Takhar province.

Some of the 150 girls, who suffered from headaches and vomiting, were in critical condition, while others were able to go home after treatment in hospital, the officials said.

They said they knew the water had been poisoned because a larger tank used to fill the affected water jugs was not contaminated.

“This is not a natural illness. It’s an intentional act to poison schoolgirls,” said Haffizullah Safi, head of Takhar’s public health department.

None of the officials blamed any particular group for the attack, fearing retribution from anyone named.

The Afghan government said last year that the Taliban, which has been trying to adopt a more moderate face to advance exploratory peace talks, had dropped its opposition to female education.

But the insurgency has never stated that explicitly and in the past acid has been thrown in the faces of women and girls by hardline Islamists while walking to school.

Education for women was outlawed by the Taliban government from 1996-2001 as un-Islamic.

Neil Heywood ‘poisoned by cyanide drops’ in China

Neil Heywood ‘poisoned by cyanide drops’ in China

Neil Heywood was murdered on the orders of a fallen Communist Party chief, according to the reports.

The Mail on Sunday quoted ”respected Mandarin-language websites” saying Mr Heywood, 41, died from cyanide poisoning after allegedly having an affair with lawyer Gu Kailai, wife of Bo Xilai, seen until recently as a future leader of China.

Mr Heywood was found dead on November 15 in Chongqing, in central China.

Britain asked China to investigate his death and it emerged last week that Mrs Gu was being probed for ”intentional homicide”.

The newspaper said it was alleged that Mr Heywood was murdered after helping Mrs Gu to siphon nearly £800 million of assets overseas.

A city official has allegedly confessed that he prepared the poison and handed it to an employee of Mr Bo, who administered it to Mr Heywood on the party chief’s instructions.

Mr Heywood was a friend of the family of Mr Bo, a former rising star in Chinese politics who served as local party chief in Chongqing.

At the time, Chinese officials said the British expat died of ”excessive alcohol consumption”.

But friends questioned this, saying the businessman was not a heavy drinker.

In February, Mr Bo’s former Police Chief Wang Lijun sought refuge in the US consulate in China.

It is thought he made a number of claims against the politician and Mrs Gu, including her alleged role in Mr Heywood’s death.

State media reported on Tuesday that Mrs Gu and Zhang Xiaojun, an orderly at Mr Bo’s home, had been arrested.

Meanwhile Mr Bo has been suspended from the Communist Party’s 25-member Politburo amid allegations of ”serious discipline violations”.

A Foreign Office (FCO) spokeswoman said yesterday: ”We are aware of the latest media reports. As there is an ongoing Chinese police investigation into this case it wouldn’t be appropriate to comment further. We remain in close touch with the Chinese authorities and Mr Heywood’s family.”

It was reported on Saturday that the Foreign Office was facing increasing questions over delays in its intervention.

Reports said it had emerged that a British diplomat and two Chinese policemen attended Mr Heywood’s cremation in Chongqing shortly after he was killed.

But the British did not raise questions with the Chinese until three months later, despite locally based British businessmen urging the Foreign Office to intervene, the newspaper said.

An FCO spokesman said: ”As we became more concerned about this case, including following suggestions from the business community, we took the decision to ask the Chinese authorities to launch an investigation.

”We acted as soon as we thought concerns about the case justified it.

”We are pleased that the Chinese have now launched that investigation. We were in constant contact with the family throughout and kept them informed of our actions.”

Prime Minister David Cameron said on Wednesday during a Far East tour that he was pleased the Chinese authorities were taking action over the murder.

He said: ”We did ask the Chinese to hold an investigation and we are pleased that they are now doing that.

”It is very important we get to the truth of what happened in this very disturbing case, this very tragic case.”

Mr Heywood had lived in China for 10 years and was fluent in Mandarin. He had two children with his Chinese wife.

Will Obama Say Anything About This?

Mississippi State releases more details on Saturday homicide

A student was shot to death at a Mississippi State University residence hall late Saturday night, prompting campus-wide alerts as authorities searched for suspects who fled the scene. The university held a press conference Sunday morning at 10 a.m. to release more details.

Bill Kibler, vice president of student affairs, stated the victim’s name is John Sanderson, age 21, from Madison, MS. Sanderson is a first year student at MSU and transferred there from Holmes Community College.

The 911 call was placed at 9:54 p.m. Saturday night, and police arrived at Evans Hall within minutes. The shooting occurred in a first floor dorm room.

Sanderson was transported by ambulance to Oktibbeha County Hospital Regional Medical Center around 10:20 and was declared dead there at around 11:30 p.m.

Evans Hall, which houses about 300 male students, has security cameras at each entrance. That video footage has been downloaded and turned over to police. Dorm residents have to go through three separate key card entrances before reaching a residence room.

Three African American male suspects reportedly fled the scene in a blue Crown Victoria. Authorities believe the suspects fled the campus and probably the city of Starkville. Twenty four students from adjacent rooms were relocated after the shooting primarily to preserve the crime scene. A gun was recovered on campus but authorities did not say where it was found.

As of mid-day Sunday, no arrests had been made.

Kibler says the university cannot discuss the motive due to the ongoing investigation.

University President Mark Keenum announced he believes the shooting was an isolated incident, and there’s no indication of any danger to other students; however, university and Starkville residents were cautioned to be aware of an African American male looking for a ride to Jackson.

Shortly after the shooting, the university began sending a series of text message alerts to students.

University Police are heading the investigation with the help of Starkville Police, Oktibbeha County Sheriff’s Department and Mississippi Highway Patrol.

REVEALED: The Breitbart/Obama Tapes

Breitbart’s Footage Shows Obama ‘Palling Around’ With Terrorists

Obama’s Weather Underground friends wanted Communist dictatorship set up in America

Paul Joseph Watson
Infowars.com

The footage that Andrew Breitbart planned to release just hours after his untimely death would have proven hugely damaging to President Obama’s re-election hopes, because it shows Obama fraternizing with Weather Underground terrorists whose goal it was to set up a Communist dictatorship inside the United States.

According to former FBI agent Larry Grathwohl, who was assigned to infiltrate the Weather Underground’s Central Committee, the organization run by Bill Ayers carried out bombings targeting the Pentagon, the State Department, as well as police stations and federal buildings, in an attempt to cause the United States government to collapse and open the door for Cuban, North Vietnamese, Chinese and Russian troops to occupy the country.

Grathwohl stated that Ayers and his group planned to deal with Americans who would try to resist this takeover by “establishing re-education centers in the south-west”. Asked what he would do with those who still refused to convert to communism, Ayers said that they would have to be “eliminated,” as in 25 million Americans would be killed in concentration camps.

Grathwohl points out that most of the people advocating this brutality had “graduate degrees from Columbia and other well known educational centers,” and relates the shock it was to listen to these people “figure out the logistics for the elimination of 25 million people – and they were dead serious”.

Although Obama’s links with Bill Ayers and other radicals from the era has been well documented for years, after all it was Ayers who helped launch Obama’s political career, for him to be seen on video ‘palling’ around with terrorists who wanted to set up a brutal Communist dictatorship inside the United States would have represented a public relations nightmare going into the election.

In the aftermath of Breitbart’s death, it remains to be seen whether the footage will still be released, or if it is released whether it will carry anything like the same impact it would have generated if Breitbart had still been around to push it.

As we reported earlier, Breitbart himself made a chilling and prophetic statement when referring to the footage during an event in Washington DC three weeks ago when he told Lawrence Sinclair, “Wait til they see what happens March 1st.”

Breitbart had been teasing the release of the footage during speeches throughout last month, notably at CPAC where he told the audience, “I’ve got videos – this election we’re going to vet him,” adding that the video shows Obama meeting “a bunch of silver pony tails,” including Bill Ayers and Bernardine Dohrn.

In another bizarre twist of irony, Breitbart himself actually had dinner with Bill Ayers and Bernardine Dohrn just last month. Breitbart’s friend Tucker Carlson “mischievously” won a bid on an auction to dine with the two radicals and invited Breitbart along. Breitbart called Ayers “a sociopath,” but also remarked that he was a great chef.

Given the fact that his death occurred just hours before the planned release of the Obama footage, the claim that Breitbart could have been the victim of a political assassination has dominated political discussion forums over the past 24 hours.

Radio talk show host Michael Savage added fuel to the fire during his broadcast yesterday when he floated the idea that the Obama administration could be behind Breitbart’s death.

“Given that we know what we have in the White House….are we allowed to ask the question….should there be an investigation,” asked Savage, adding that he had met privately with Breitbart twice and urged him to get security guards and not “walk alone at night in the street,” because of the danger he was putting himself in by so publicly attacking Obama.

“Do you think it’s possible that he was executed, assassinated by some nefarious forces in America – have we now become South America in the 1970?s where people start to disappear?,” asked Savage, speculating that Breitbart could have been surreptitiously injected with a substance that triggered a heart attack, or had an electronic device beamed at his chest.

Chinese Twitter Says North Korean Dictator Kim Jong-Un Was Assassinated This Morning In Beijing

Chinese Twitter Says Kim Jong-Un Was Assassinated This Morning In Beijing
By Adrian Chen

The Chinese micro-blogging service Weibo has exploded with rumors that new North Korean leader Kim Jong-Un was assassinated today at the North Korean embassy in Beijing. Twitter death rumors are totally cross-cultural.

Here’s one version of the rumor, cleaned up from the crappy Google translation:

According to reliable sources, North Korean leader [Kim Jong-Un was killed] in Beijing in February 10 2012, at 2 o’clock and 45 minutes. Unknown persons broke into his residence shot and were subsequently shot and killed by the bodyguard.

Official Internet Rule: Any (Chinese) Twitter post that begins with “according to reliable sources” is almost certainly fake. But this hasn’t stopped Chinese netizens from speculating that the killing was a military coup, and posting blurry pictures purporting to show an unusual number of vehicles parked at the North Korean embassy. ChinaSMACK staff writer Joe Xu suggests reports of large number of cars at the embassy may have sparked the rumor. “Rumors like this pop up every other week,” he writes on Twitter.

We will only know Kim Jong-Un’s fate for sure when a new picture of him looking at things emerges.

Update: If you live in China, please help us figure out if Kim Jong-Un is dead.
