Pope to promote peace in talks with world religious leaders

Posted by AGENCE FRANCE PRESSE

VATICAN CITY,– Pope Benedict XVI has invited 300 religious leaders to a meeting in Assisi in Italy to repudiate “violence in the name of God” amid growing tensions fuelled by fundamentalists across the world.

The day of interreligious council, which will be held on Thursday in St. Francis of Assisi’s birthplace, is intended to be a “journey of reflection, dialogue and prayer for peace and justice in the world,” the Vatican said.

Over 50 Islamic representatives are expected to attend the talks from several countries, including Saudi Arabia and Iran.

They will be joined by Rabbis, Hindus, Buddhists, Jains, Sikhs, a Zoroastrian, a Bahai and representatives of Taoism and Confucianism as well as of other traditional religions from Africa and America.

For the first time, four atheists will also attend the meeting, which is traditionally organised so as not to coincide with the Muslim day of prayer on Friday, the Jewish one on Saturday or the Christian one on Sunday.

However, the Imam from the Al-Azhar University in Cairo, a heavyweight authority on Sunnism, will not be coming, having fallen out with the pope after he urged Egypt to protect Christians from attacks by radical Islamists.

The meeting is being criticised by Catholic fundamentalists who are strongly against the idea of dialogue with other religions. French fundamentalist Regis de Cacqueray said 1,000 masses would be needed to be said in reparation.

The event marks the 25th anniversary of the first interreligious meeting in Assisi, organised by John Paul II in 1986 as a “day of prayer” inspired by the United Nation’s proclamation of an International Year of the Peace.

Cardinal Joseph Ratzinger, the then prefect of the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith, chose not to attend because of concerns shared by traditionalists that it risked mixing religions into a vague common belief.

While guests attending this year’s encounter — the third in Assisi — will in principle follow a “common course”, those who wish to pray will do so separately, according to their beliefs, the Holy See has said.

Cardinal Roger Etchegaray, who helped organise the first Assisi day in 1986, said John Paul II had been careful to avoid mixing beliefs, and Benedict XVI was no different.

“Interreligious dialogue has spread” over the last 25 years, and the pope sees it “as a common, irrevocable heritage of Christian sensibility,” he said.

The pope’s main aim is for participants to agree to “a common commitment to reject the instrumentalism of religion and the use of violence in the name of God,” said a Vatican insider.

Number two of the Pontifical Council for Interreligious Dialogue, Pier Luigi Celata, said the problems that particularly concern religions are immigration, cultural diversity, religious liberty and the defence of the family.

“These issues oblige faithful people from different religions to look for common solutions,”
he said.

At the end of the day of talks, the main participants will renew their commitment to peace in the square in front of St. Francis’ Basilica.

A burning torch will be symbolically presented to the delegations in the hope that they will take the message back with them to their communities.

Japan, Turkey, Poland, Mexico the Rising World Powers?

Japan, Turkey, Poland, Mexico the Rising World Powers?

Talk about taking the long view. Stratfor founder George Friedman takes a stab at predicting what the world will look like a hundred years from now in a provocative forthcoming book, The Next 100 Years.

Contrary to those who see the rise of China as the next major historical development, Friedman argues that the next century will continue to to be dominated by the United States.

There are many who predict that China is the next challenger to the United States, not Russia. I don’t agree with that view for three reasons. First, when you look at a map of China closely, you see that it is really a very isolated country physically. Second, China has not been a major naval power for centuries, and building a navy requires a long time not only to build ships but to create well-trained and experienced sailors.

Third, there is a deeper reason for not worrying about China. China is inherently unstable. Whenever it opens its borders to the outside world, the coastal region becomes prosperous, but the vast majority of Chinese in the interior remain impoverished. This leads to tension, conflict, and instability. It also leads to economic decisions made for political reasons, resulting in inefficiency and corruption.

The inherent power of the United States coupled with its geographic position makes the United States the pivotal actor of the twenty-first century.

Friedman sees Japan, Turkey, Poland and Mexico potentially emerging a major players on the world political stage.

With a history of militarism, Japan will not remain the marginal pacifistic power it has been. It cannot. Its own deep population problems and abhorrence of large- scale immigration will force it to look for new workers in other countries.

Turkey is a stable platform in the midst of chaos. The Balkans, the Caucasus, and the Arab world to the south are all unstable. As Turkey’s power grows — and its economy and military are already the most powerful in the region — so will Turkish influence.

Two factors make Poland’s reemergence as a world power possible.

First will be the decline of Germany. Its economy is large and still growing, but it has lost the dynamism it has had for two centuries. In addition, its population is going to fall dramatically in the next fifty years, further undermining its economic power. Second, as the Russians press on the Poles from the east, the Germans won’t have an appetite for a third war with Russia. The United States, however, will back Poland, providing it with massive economic and technical support. Wars — when your country isn’t destroyed—stimulate economic growth, and Poland will become the leading power in a coalition of states facing the Russians.

Finally, Mexico will be emboldened by the population bust in the developed world that will create a major labor shortage in advanced industrial countries, Friedman argues.

The United States will be competing for increasingly scarce immigrants and will be doing everything it can to induce Mexicans to come to the United States—an ironic but inevitable shift.

These changes will lead to the final crisis of the twenty-first century. As the Europeans slip out, the Mexicans, like the Turks, will rise in the rankings until by the late twenty-first century they will be one of the major economic powers in the world. During the great migration north encouraged by the United States, the population balance in the old Mexican Cession (that is, the areas of the United States taken from Mexico in the nineteenth century) will shift dramatically until much of the region is predominantly Mexican.

By 2080 I expect there to be a serious confrontation between the United States and an increasingly powerful and assertive Mexico. That confrontation may well have unforeseen consequences for the United States, and will likely not end by 2100.

Communist Party USA Endorses Barack Obama and Democrats For 2012 Election

Henry D’Andrea

Obama received a critical endorsement, The Communist Party USA. The Communist Party USA leader, Sam Webb, explains why he will continue to support Obama and Democrats in 2012. The Communist Party USA has consistently supported and infiltrated the Democratic Party.

Also note, Sam Webb, the leader of the party, called Obama a friend back in 2008.

Sam Webb Via People’s World:

It is obvious that there is a growing feeling of frustration and even anger among supporters of the Democratic Party with its performance over the past two years.

AFL-CIO President Richard Trumka, speaking for the labor movement, strongly expressed this unhappiness in some recent speeches.

I am disappointed too with some aspects of the Obama administration’s domestic and foreign policy.

But I don’t forget that this administration governs in a very hostile political environment in which the right is laboring overtime to wreck its initiatives at every step of the way.

In addition, there are the structural pressures of governing in a capitalist economy and state.

Then there are conservative pressures coming from some congressional Democrats and members of the administration.

Everything can’t be explained away by the objective context, however. The president and his administration can be faulted for a number of policy decisions.

But the main question from a strategic point of view is this: Does it make any difference, from the standpoint of the class and democratic struggles, which party gains political ascendency?

Some – though not the labor movement nor other mass organizations of the American people – say no, it doesn’t.

Some even go a step further and say a Democratic victory creates popular illusions, which in turn weaken the people’s struggles. And the only way out of this vise is to form a third party now.

Communists don’t agree with either one of these views. In our view, the differences between the two parties of capitalism are of consequence to class and democratic struggles.

Neither party is anti-capitalist, but they aren’t identical either. Differences exist at the levels of policy and social composition. And despite the many frustrations of the past two years, the election of Barack Obama was historic and gave space to struggle for a people’s agenda.

If, on the other hand, the Republicans had been victorious in 2008 the character of class and democratic struggles would have unfolded very differently. Our movement would have been on the defensive from Day One, the Democrats would be running for cover, and the Republicans would have an unfettered hand in their efforts to liquidate the welfare state, roll back the rights revolution of the 1930s and 1960s, and crush the people’s movement – labor in the first place.

As for the wisdom of a third party, we have always advocated the formation of an independent people’s party at the core of which are the working class and labor, racially and nationally oppressed people, women, youth, immigrants, seniors, gay and straight, etc. It is essential for any deep-going social change. But its realization depends on more than our desire, more than our political-ideological attitude. Millions who have to be at the core of this party still operate under the umbrella of the Democratic Party, albeit increasingly in an independent fashion.

Moreover, to separate ourselves at this moment from these forces would be contrary to our strategic policy of building maximum unity against right-wing extremism now and in next year’s elections.

Now that doesn’t mean that we give up our advocacy of an independent people’s party, but we also understand that its formation is dictated by concrete political realities and strategic necessities. Nor does it mean that we hit the mute button when the Obama administration takes positions that we don’t agree with. Just as we show no hesitation in supporting, and fighting for, the administration’s progressive initiatives, we should have no compunction about taking issue with the administration when it takes positions that we don’t agree on.

Which is what we have done.

When someone says we are not critical of the administration what they usually mean is that our criticism isn’t as sweeping and categorical as they would like.

We make criticisms, but we do it in a certain context and with a certain strategic objective in mind. We are keenly aware of the fact that the agenda of the far right is to bring this administration and country to its knees, with a heavy dose of racism, lies and economic sabotage, setting the stage for a full blown return to power of the most reactionary, racist, anti-labor, anti-women, homophobic and militarist grouping in U.S. politics.

We want no part of that. We don’t have any illusions about the Democratic Party, but we don’t have any illusions about the Republican Party either.

Furthermore, we are also aware of the undeniable fact that no other party besides the Democratic Party stands a chance of beating the GOP next year.

I’m sure Obama will win in 2012 now.. yeah right.

Vatican Calls for “Central World Bank”

Vatican Calls for “Central World Bank”

Kurt Nimmo
Infowars.com

The Vatican has called for a “global public authority” and a world central bank to rule over financial affairs in the wake of the engineered economic collapse.

A document released by the Vatican’s Justice and Peace department “should be music to the ears of the ‘Occupy Wall Street’ demonstrators and similar movements around the world who have protested against the economic downturn,” according to CNBC.

Condemning the “idolatry of the market,” the document states that the “economic and financial crisis which the world is going through calls everyone, individuals and peoples, to examine in depth the principles and the cultural and moral values at the basis of social coexistence.”

The planned implosion of the global economy “has revealed behaviors like selfishness, collective greed and hoarding of goods on a great scale.”

The 18-page document, entitled “Towards Reforming the International Financial and Monetary Systems in the Context of a Global Public Authority,” declares global economics needs an “ethic of solidarity” among rich and poor nations.

“If no solutions are found to the various forms of injustice, the negative effects that will follow on the social, political and economic level will be destined to create a climate of growing hostility and even violence, and ultimately undermine the very foundations of democratic institutions, even the ones considered most solid,” it said.

In response, the Vatican is calling for “a supranational authority” with worldwide scope and “universal jurisdiction” to guide economic policies and decisions. The authority will be run by the United Nations, according to the document.

It will take time to replace economic policies and in the process destroy national sovereignty, according to the Vatican.

“Of course, this transformation will be made at the cost of a gradual, balanced transfer of a part of each nation’s powers to a world authority and to regional authorities, but this is necessary at a time when the dynamism of human society and the economy and the progress of technology are transcending borders, which are in fact already very eroded in a globalizes world.”

Former Soviet leader Gorbachev calls for American Perestroika saying protest movement highlights need for “global governance”

Gorbachev Calls For American Perestroika

Paul Joseph Watson
Infowars.com

Former Communist leader Mikhail Gorbachev told an audience at Lafayette College on Wednesday night that the United States’ economic problems heralded the need for a new American “perestroika,” defined by a “new world order” and a system of “global governance”.

Speaking to a crowd of 3,600 people during an event that was broadcast live nationwide, Gorbachev made reference to riots and demonstrations that have swept the world over the last two years, including the Occupy Wall Street movement in the United States.

“The world needs goals that will bring people together,” he said. “Some people in the United States were pushing the idea of creating a global American empire, and that was a mistake from the start. Other people in America are now giving thought to the future of their country. The big banks, the big corporations, are still paying the same big bonuses to their bosses. Was there ever a crisis for them? . . . I believe America needs its own perestroika.”

How will this American perestroika manifest itself? As a “new world order” characterized by a system of “global governance,” according to Gorbachev.

Others, including myself, have spoken about a new world order, but we are still facing the problem of building such a world order…problems of the environment, of backwardness and poverty, food shortages…all because we do not have a system of global governance,” he said.

“We cannot leave things as they were before, when we are seeing that these protests are moving to even new countries, that almost all countries are now witnessing such protests, that the people want change,” he said. “As we are addressing these challenges, these problems raised by these protest movements, we will gradually find our way towards a new world order,” added Gorbachev.

Of course, Gorbachev’s call for global financial instability to be used as a pretext for the further centralization of power into a sovereignty-stripping system of global governance will merely concentrate more influence into the hands of a tiny elite.

Gorbachev attempt to invoke the protest movement sweeping the globe and re-label it as a call for global governance is fundamentally disingenuous. A new world order means less democratic representation. Global government is the ultimate expression of autocratic rule, it is inherently undemocratic. Gorbachev’s American perestroika will not equate to more freedom and prosperity, it will result in a lowering of living standards and even less political representation.

The literal translation of “perestroika” means “restructuring,” but Gorbachev’s past comments overwhelmingly illustrate the fact that the former Communist icon is calling for America to experience a Soviet-style collapse before it can be re-absorbed as a vassal state that is subordinate to a UN-run global government.

The former Soviet leader has long been an advocate of transforming the United Nations and its affiliated offshoots into an architecture of global government, eviscerating American sovereignty in the process.

In September 2000, Gorbachev called for the UN to set up Soviet-style “central authority” to control the world’s business and environmental concerns. For decades he has consistently called for a “new world order” to replace existing nation states as the ultimate source of power.

Gorbachev and his fellow globalists like Zbigniew Brzezinski are clearly trying to exploit and hijack the collective disenfranchisement being expressed across the world as a tool to accomplish the long-held pursuit of global governance, handing even more power to the insiders who were responsible for the financial collapse in the first place.

The United States Of Europe: The New Superpower and the End of American Supremacy

They Want A “United States Of Europe” But They Are Going To Need A Massive Financial Crisis In Order To Get It

Courtesy The American Dream

Are we about to see a huge push for a “United States of Europe”? As the sovereign debt crisis in Europe continues to spiral out of control, suddenly this term is popping up in the New York Times and in major newspapers all over Europe. So is this by accident? Surely not. The truth is that there is an overwhelming consensus among the political and financial elite of Europe that a “United States of Europe” is what would be best for the eurozone. However, they are likely going to need a massive financial crisis in order to reach their goal. Right now, the citizens of the countries that make up the eurozone are overwhelmingly against deeper European integration. Without experiencing a massive amount of financial pain, they are unlikely to change their minds any time soon. So who is going to win in the end? Unfortunately, the clock is ticking because Greece is on the verge of defaulting on their debts and several other countries are not that far behind. If Europe does not decide on a course of action soon, the euro is going to collapse and financial institutions all over Europe are going to come crashing down.

Up until now, EU leaders have been handling this crisis by putting out one fire after another. This has been going on for a couple of years, but these bailouts cannot go on indefinitely. Instead of fixing things, “kicking the can down the road” has only delayed the pain and made things even worse.

The EU as it is currently structured simply does not work. The political will for more bailouts is rapidly drying up and politicians in Europe are only going to be able to “extend and pretend” for a little while longer.

Something needs to be done.

But instead of admitting that the euro was a massive mistake and returning to national currencies, most of the top politicians in Europe believe that “more Europe” is the answer.

Mario Draghi, the incoming head of the European Central Bank, is totally convinced that Europe needs to integrate much more deeply….

“To cope with this, we must have a treaty change. The aim of this effort should be a quantum leap up in European economic and political integration.”

Do you notice that he is not just advocating small changes in the way that Europe works. What Draghi wants is “a quantum leap” in European integration.

His predecessor feels the same way. Jean-Claude Trichet, the departing head of the European Central Bank, is also very much in favor of much deeper European integration….

“The crisis has clearly revealed the need for strong economic governance in a zone with a single currency”

Of course one of the biggest proponents of a “United States of Europe” has been Herman van Rompuy. In a recent article, the Telegraph made the following eye-catching statement….

Herman van Rompuy is ready to run for a second term as EU president, at the head of a “United States of Europe”

Of course he would not be doing it for “personal glory”. In the same article, he is quoted as saying he wants another term because “the work is not finished” and that he needs new powers in order to get it done….

Mr Van Rompuy has announced he is willing to take on the “unfinished” euro zone debt crisis with new powers setting an “economic government” in Brussels.

Top politicians in the UK are even promoting the idea of much deeper European integration. Even though he insists that Britain will not join the euro, UK Prime Minister David Cameron is now publicly endorsing the idea that the eurozone form a “United States of Europe” in order to save the euro according to a recent article in the Daily Mail….

David Cameron was branded an EU ‘enthusiast’ by Tory Eurosceptics last night as he said Britain must let eurozone countries move towards a United States of Europe with a common economic policy.

The Prime Minister admitted he was not sure whether Germany and other countries had the political will to prevent a break-up of the single currency, but insisted they must be allowed to try – even if that meant closer integration.

It is funny how whenever there is a crisis in Europe, the answer that we are always given is that “more Europe” is the answer.

For example, Antonio Borges, director of the International Monetary Fund’s European unit, recently stated the following….

“To put the crisis behind us, we need more Europe, not less. And we need it now.”

In the past, European leaders were always very hesitant to use the words “United States of Europe”. But now it seems like that term is flying around all over the place.

It is almost as if they want to start getting us conditioned to the idea.

For example, just check out what former German Chancellor Gerhard Schroeder said recently. He has been one of the biggest cheerleaders for a United States of Europe….

From the European Commission, we should make a government which would be supervised by the European Parliament. And that means the United States of Europe.”

So if all of these top politicians want this, why can’t they just do it?

Well, there are some problems.

Right now, the EU treaties don’t really allow for a “United States of Europe”, and the recent decision by the German Constitutional Court has put up some huge roadblocks.

For example, the German Constitutional Court seemed to kill off the possibility for any kind of “fiscal federalism” in the near future when they made this statement in their recent decision….

The Bundestag’s budget responsibilities may not be transferred through open-ended appropriations to other actors. In particular, no financial mechanisms can lead to meaningful fiscal burdens without prior approval”

Not only that, but the court also clearly rejected the notion of “Eurobonds”….

“No permanent treaty mechanisms shall be established that leads to liability for the decisions of other states, especially if they entail incalculable consequences”

By using this kind of language, the German Constitutional Court has put up some massive roadblocks in the way of a “United States of Europe”. It is probably going to take a new treaty in order to get it done.

But right now, the citizens of Europe don’t want anything to do with a new treaty that would allow for a “United States of Europe”. If such a treaty was put up for ratification at this point, it would be soundly defeated.

For example, a recent poll found that 76 percent of the German people are opposed to any further German financial aid for Greece.

In addition, another recent poll found that German voters are against the introduction of “Eurobonds” by about a 5 to 1 margin.

German Chancellor Angela Merkel is having a hard enough time just keeping support for the current Greek bailout together. According to reports, there are 25 members of her own coalition that plan to vote against the revamped EFSF. At this point it is unclear whether it will pass or not.

As noted above, the political will for more bailouts is dying. But without more bailouts, Greece will default and several other eurozone nations will follow. It could also mean the potential for at least a partial collapse of the euro.

But if there is a massive financial crisis in Europe, it may start changing the minds of the voters about much deeper European integration.

You see, once people start feeling severe pain, often they will start considering things that they would not have considered before.

But let us hope that European voters never change their minds. Deeper European integration may stop the current financial crisis, but it would also mean a tremendous loss of national sovereignty.

A Daily Mail article entitled “Rise of the Fourth Reich, how Germany is using the financial crisis to conquer Europe” contained the following sobering assessment of what deeper economic integration for Europe would mean….

This would entail a loss of sovereignty not seen in those countries since many were under the jackboot of the Third Reich 70 years ago.

For be in no doubt what fiscal union means: it is one economic policy, one taxation system, one social security system, one debt, one economy, one finance minister. And all of the above would be German.

Right now, the EU is a terribly undemocratic institution. Individual voters have next to no power over the control freaks that run things in Brussels. Every single day, the EU becomes a little bit more like the former USSR.

The last thing that the people of Europe need to do is to give the EU more power.

But that is exactly what the elite of Europe want.

They want a “United States of Europe”.

China Calls For International Oversight Of The US Dollar

China Calls For International Oversight Of The US Dollar, Suggests Single Global Currency Replace It

Alexander Higgins

China is demanding “international supervision over the U.S. dollar” and says they are looking at the option of creating a new single global currency to replace the dollar altogether.

China has published an article in its stated owned Xinhua news agency that rails against the United States for losing its AAA credit rating and has issued a series of demands to U.S. policy makers and the international community.

China begins by railing against the “arrogance and cynicism from some Western commentators” in regard to the credit rating downgrade of U.S. debt that was issued by China’s Dagong Global credit rating agency last year and goes on to state that they have the right to demand the U.S. address its debt problem to protect the Chinese dollar.

In concluding the article China is calling upon the international community to intervene with a program of “international supervision over the U.S dollar” while indicating they are looking at the option of creating a global currency to replace the dollar altogether.

China has released a scathing op-ed in Xinhua, the official Chinese news agency, in which the authors waste no time to humiliate a “debt-ridden Uncle Sam” following the S&P downgrade, in the most violent surge in the recent war of words between the ascendent and descendent superpowers. Some choice selections: “Dagong Global, a fledgling Chinese rating agency, degraded the U.S. treasury bonds late last year, yet its move was met then with a sense of arrogance and cynicism from some Western commentators. Now S&P has proved what its Chinese counterpart has done is nothing but telling the global investors the ugly truth”, “China, the largest creditor of the world’s sole superpower, has every right now to demand the United States to address its structural debt problems and ensure the safety of China’s dollar assets.” It doesnt stop there, “[the US] should also stop its old practice of letting its domestic electoral politics take the global economy hostage and rely on the deep pockets of major surplus countries to make up for its perennial deficits.” China takes the opportunity to give the US a little lecture on a broken way of life: “All Americans, both beltway politicians and those on Main Street, have to do some serious soul-searching to bring their country back from a potential financial abyss.” And lastly, China once again gets back to its pissing contest about whose reserve currency is bigger: “International supervision over the issue of U.S. dollars should be introduced and a new, stable and secured global reserve currency may also be an option to avert a catastrophe caused by any single country.” Just wild fun.

There is alleged evidence the United States has no Gold left at Fort Knox. Rumors that the government is providing American land as collateral to China. It is true China has alreadydivested 97% of their US bond holdings. The US government is preparing for the inevitable and even the USDA is on record as predicting food riots in the US later this year. If the US does default. What would stop China, Russia or other debt holders from simply attacking. The answer is very little. The fact is, the collapse of the World’s lone superpower is contrived. It has been planned perfectly and executed flawlessly. Today, the World is on the road to unification. Tony Blair is spearheading the effort to create a One World Church. It is coming folks. The END truly is near. Very soon we will see One number to rule all of us. What will YOU do? – PECAN

From Xinhua:

After historic downgrade, U.S. must address its chronic debt problems

The days when the debt-ridden Uncle Sam could leisurely squander unlimited overseas borrowing appeared to be numbered as its triple A-credit rating was slashed by Standard & Poor’s (S&P) for the first time on Friday.

Though the U.S. Treasury promptly challenged the unprecedented downgrade, many outside the United States believe the credit rating cut is an overdue bill that America has to pay for its own debt addition and the short-sighted political wrangling in Washington.

Dagong Global, a fledgling Chinese rating agency, degraded the U.S. treasury bonds late last year, yet its move was met then with a sense of arrogance and cynicism from some Western commentators. Now S&P has proved what its Chinese counterpart has done is nothing but telling the global investors the ugly truth.

China, the largest creditor of the world’s sole superpower, has every right now to demand the United States to address its structural debt problems and ensure the safety of China’s dollar assets.

To cure its addiction to debts, the United States has to reestablish the common sense principle that one should live within its means.

S&P has already indicated that more credit downgrades may still follow. Thus, if no substantial cuts were made to the U.S. gigantic military expenditure and bloated social welfare costs, the downgrade would prove to be only a prelude to more devastating credit rating cuts, which will further roil the global financial markets all along the way.

Moreover, the spluttering world economic recovery would be very likely to be undermined and fresh rounds of financial turmoil could come back to haunt us all.

The U.S. government has to come to terms with the painful fact that the good old days when it could just borrow its way out of messes of its own making are finally gone.

It should also stop its old practice of letting its domestic electoral politics take the global economy hostage and rely on the deep pockets of major surplus countries to make up for its perennial deficits.

A little self-discipline would not be too uncomfortable for the United States, the world’s largest economy and issuer of international reserve currency, to bear.

Though chances for a full-blown U.S. default are still slim now, the S&P downgrade serves as another warning shot about the long-term sustainability of the U.S. government finances.

International supervision over the issue of U.S. dollars should be introduced and a new, stable and secured global reserve currency may also be an option to avert a catastrophe caused by any single country.

For centuries, it was the exuberant energy and innovation that has sustained America’s role in the world and maintained investors’ confidence in dollar assets. But now, mounting debts and ridiculous political wrestling in Washington have damaged America’s image abroad.

All Americans, both beltway politicians and those on Main Street, have to do some serious soul-searching to bring their country back from a potential financial abyss.

The events in this video look more and more likely every day.

Reuters also reported on the Xinhua article and added that China will now be forced to dump the U.S. dollar.

The downgrade of U.S. credit rating is expect to take a major toll on China’s over $2 trillion in investments in the U.S. dollar.

With no where else to put all of that money China will be forced to invest it into a one world currency.

Reuters reports:

China blasts U.S. over debt problems, calls for dollar oversight

SHANGHAI | Sat Aug 6, 2011 2:35am EDT

(Reuters) – China roundly condemned the United States for its “debt addiction” and “short sighted” political wrangling and said the world needed a new stable global reserve currency.

In a harshly-worded commentary by the official Xinhua news agency on Saturday, China gave its first official comments on the United States losing its gilded AAA long-term credit rating from Standard & Poor’s.

[…]

Chinese economists said the U.S. credit rating downgrade posed a great risk to financial markets and they expected it to prompt China, the world’s biggest holder of U.S. Treasuries, to accelerate the diversification of its holdings.

[…]

“China will be forced to consider other investments for its reserves. U.S. Treasuries aren’t as safe anymore. There is a class of assets out there that are more risky than AAA, but less risky than AA+. China didn’t consider these investments before, but now it would be forced to do so,
” Li said.

Paper or Plastic? Canada Prepares To Introduce Plastic Money

Canada Prepares To Introduce Plastic Money

When I think of paying with plastic, I think of credit or debit cards. However, my thought process is going to have to change. Canada will soon join a growing list of countries that use a polymer-based plastic instead of paper for its cash. The new plastic money will be rolled out in phases with the $100 bill scheduled for introduction in November. In March 2012, a $50 bill will be added to the mix and the rest of the smaller bills will be introduced by the end of 2013.

There are several benefits to plastic cash – enhanced security, a longer life and the money is even cleaner. We all know how dirty money can be but the new bills are resistant to water, oil, sweat, dust and more.

“Further, scientific evaluation has shown that there is significantly less bacteriological growth on polymer banknotes, and that any bacteria which gets onto the notes quickly dies because of the lack of nutrients on the non-porous and non-fibrous material.” Source: Securency International Pty Ltd.

While the cleanliness factor is nice, the security benefits are one of the biggest draws of switching to plastic money. Australia has been using polymer-based cash for more than a decade and the country has seen a significant reduction in counterfeit bills.

The polymer-based money is also recyclable. The money is made out of polypropylene, which can be recycled and used to create new products including plumbing fittings, compost bins and other household items.

I can’t think of a downside to plastic money. I know that BPA is often associated with plastics but even our paper money is contaminated with BPA.

Learn the 3 E’s – AGENDA 21

Agenda21

Agenda 21 is a comprehensive plan of action to be taken globally, nationally and locally by organizations of the United Nations System, Governments, and Major Groups in every area in which human impacts on the environment.

Agenda 21, the Rio Declaration on Environment and Development, and the Statement of principles for the Sustainable Management of Forests were adopted by more than 178 Governments at the United Nations Conference on Environment and Development (UNCED) held in Rio de Janerio, Brazil, 3 to 14 June 1992.

The Commission on Sustainable Development (CSD) was created in December 1992 to ensure effective follow-up of UNCED, to monitor and report on implementation of the agreements at the local, national, regional and international levels. It was agreed that a five year review of Earth Summit progress would be made in 1997 by the United Nations General Assembly meeting in special session.

The full implementation of Agenda 21, the Programme for Further Implementation of Agenda 21 and the Commitments to the Rio principles, were strongly reaffirmed at the World Summit on Sustainable Development (WSSD) held in Johannesburg, South Africa from 26 August to 4 September 2002.

Chilean President Talks New International Order, Calls For Full Americas Integration Like E.U during Obama visit

Chilean President Talks New International Order, Calls For Full Americas Integration Like E.U during Obama visit

Aaron Dykes
Infowars

During President Obama’s visit to Latin America last week was a call for further integration of the Americas, as well as extended cooperation with Asia under a Trans-Pacific Partnership, that went almost unnoticed in the media. This is par for the course, as plans for borderless, regional government have patently development “by stealth” (as the documents released under FOIA request by Judicial Watch revealed).

Chile’s President Sebastián Piñera was quite direct in calling for “a new international order.”

Air Date March 21, 2011

PRESIDENT PINERA: And in America, we are much behind that. In America, 20 years ago, President Bush, father, raised the idea of a free trade area from Alaska to “Fire Land” (Tierra del Fuego) generating a lot of enthusiasm in the region, but it never came true, never materialized. […] And in our view, that will call for a new international order that will replace that which emerged in Bretton Woods after the Second World War, and to be appropriate and adaptive to the needs and challenges of the 21st century, where the only constant thing we have is change.

With little fanfare and a world focused on other pressing events, President Obama and Chilean President Sebastián Piñera coordinated and furthered an agenda to integrate the entire Americas (both North and South) into a regional government. This agenda has been going on, really, for more than a century, as the Organization of American States (OAS) demonstrates. The creation of a North American Union is ultimately one stepping stone to a complete world government with a planned economy.

REMARKS FROM PRESIDENTS PINERA & OBAMA

Chilean President Pinera’s Speech Text

[…]

PRESIDENT PINERA: I want to tell you President Obama that when you announced your visit to Chile, Brazil and El Salvador on the occasion of your State of the Union address, you said you were coming to forge new partnerships for the progress of the Americas […] we have discovered that our two nations have a road of collaboration that can be built on rock and not on sand, because we coincide in that which is key — the values, the principles, the visions. That facilitates the road. And with that we can convincingly embrace this new alliance, this new partnership between the United States of America and the rest of the American countries — we are all Americans — an alliance that should be much deeper and forward-looking than the Alliance for Progress. And this partnership, this alliance is one of our times, of our 21st century, of the society of information and technology. […] That we may have a continent as we have dreamt it always from Alaska to Tierra del Fuego, from the Pacific to the Atlantic Ocean, that will become a land of freedom, of opportunities, of progress, but also a land of fairness and camaraderie as dreamt by the Founding Fathers of that great nation of the United States, like the case of Jefferson, a great patriot like Lincoln, but also like San Martin and O’higgins from our continent.

President Obama incorporated much of this message in his response:

[…] These events remind us that in our interconnected world, the security and prosperity of nations and peoples are intertwined as never before. And no region is more closely linked than the United States and Latin America. And here in the Americas, one of our closest and strongest partners is Chile. […] We’re moving ahead with efforts to expand trade and investment, as the President mentioned. Under our existing trade agreement, trade between the United States and Chile has more than doubled, creating new jobs and opportunities in both our countries […] So today we recommitted ourselves to fully implementing our free trade agreement to include protections of intellectual property so our businesses can innovate and stay competitive. We agreed to build on the progress we’re making towards a Trans-Pacific Partnership so we can seize the full potential of trade in the Asia Pacific, especially for our small and medium businesses.

During Questions, President Pinera even more boldly discused the plan for fuller-integration throughout the Americas:

RESIDENT PINERA: (As translated.) No doubt that insofar as integration of the Americas, we are lagging behind. And the best way to illustrate this is to compare what has happened in America with what happened in Europe. […] Last century, the Europeans had two world wars with a toll of more than 70 million casualties. But at some point, they had the wisdom, the courage to abandon the rationale of Line Maginot, or Siegfried Line and to embrace Maastricht Treaty. With the leadership and the vision of such renowned statesmen like Adenauer and De Gasperi, Housman, Truman — they began to build what today we know of as European Union.

And in America, we are much behind that. […] No child should be left behind — I’ve heard this from President Obama. And here, we say in Latin America, no country should be left behind.

Organization of American States (Pan-American Union)

via Wikipedia

Pan-American UnionThe Organization of American States (OAS, or, as it is known in the three other official languages, OEA) is an regional international organization, headquartered in Washington, D.C., United States.[1] Its members are the thirty-five independent states of the American Continent, although Honduras was suspended as a result of the June 28, 2009 coup d’état that expelled President Manuel Zelaya from office.[2]

The notion of closer hemispheric union in America was first put forward by Simón Bolívar[3] who, at the 1826 Congress of Panama, proposed creating a league of American republics, with a common military, a mutual defense pact, and a supranational parliamentary assembly. This meeting was attended by representatives of Gran Colombia (comprising the modern-day nations of Colombia, Ecuador, Panama, and Venezuela), Peru, the United Provinces of Central America, and Mexico, but the grandly titled “Treaty of Union, League, and Perpetual Confederation” was ultimately ratified only by Gran Colombia. Bolívar’s dream soon floundered with civil war in Gran Colombia, the disintegration of Central America, and the emergence of national rather than continental outlooks in the newly independent American republics. Bolívar’s dream of American unity was meant to unify Latin American nations against imperial domination by external power.

The pursuit of regional solidarity and cooperation again came to the forefront in 1889–90, at the First International Conference of American States. Gathered together in Washington, D.C., 18 nations resolved to found the International Union of American Republics, served by a permanent secretariat called the Commercial Bureau of the American Republics (renamed the “International Commercial Bureau” at the Second International Conference in 1901–02). These two bodies, in existence as of 14 April 1890, represent the point of inception to which today’s OAS and its General Secretariat trace their origins.

At the Fourth International Conference of American States (Buenos Aires, 1910), the name of the organization was changed to the “Union of American Republics” and the Bureau became the “Pan American Union”.

Trade Agreements for Peru, Colombia and Panama Have ‘Concluded’ Forming an “Unbroken Chain of Trading Partners from Tierra del Fuego to the Arctic Circle” that Will “Level” U.S. Wages

Aaron Dykes / JonesReport.com | October 16, 2007

Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice made remarks at the C.F.R. hosted Organization of American States event on October 9 that the “concluded” trade agreements with Peru, Colombia and Panama are a significant step towards the broader ‘vision’ of a Pan-American Community.

“The founding ideal of our Pan-American Community, borne across many centuries and carried by us still, is the hope that life in the hemisphere would signify a break with the Old World, and a new beginning for all mankind… and the creation of a new system of international politics, based on mutual respect and cooperation among independent nations.”

Congressman goes on media blitz to denounce illegal war of aggression against Libya

Steve Watson

Congressman Ron Paul made a sweep of television appearances yesterday to voice his strong opposition to the attack on Libya, and making it clear that the president is subverting US national sovereignty by bypassing Congress to engage in illegal acts of aggression.

Appearing on Freedom Watch with Judge Andrew Napolitano, the Congressman pulled no punches when explaining why he believes Obama went to the UN for authority to drop bombs on Libya, rather than congress.

“I think he philosophically believes in one world government,” Paul stated.

He wants to keep nudging us in that direction. I don’t believe he has a conviction that national sovereignty has any value. So therefore if they can diminish the Congress.” he continued.

If he diminishes the Congress and he can get his authority from the United Nations then this enhances what he believes in. But he is not alone, the leadership in both parties has been nudging in that direction for a long time.” the Congressman added.

To think of all the effort that the founders went to to make the Congress the most important body, that they are now the most willing to give up their prerogatives and give it to the executive branch and the judicial branch, and onward and onward. Our leaderships in the House as long as I’ve been there have always deferred to the executive branch.” he said.

Paul once again urged the American people to recognize the military incursion into Libya as a war of opportunity.

It is unnecessary, it is wrong, it has nothing to do with national security, it has nothing to do with the defence of this country.” he said.

I think there is more to do with it than just that. That may be their cover. It may be that oil is an important issue here. We didn’t go to Rwanda for humanitarian reasons, so I’m not to sure that oil might not be the real clincher here.”

Watch the video:

The Congressman also appeared on Cavuto on Fox and both Anderson Cooper and In The Arena on CNN, during which he made several salient points.

I don’t think they are up front with this.” Paul told Elliot Spitzer.

It is said we are going there for humanitarian reasons, but have you ever noticed around the world there are a lot of humanitarian problems. There is abuse of protesters all through the middle east right now but it’s being done by governments that we endorse – they are our “friendly” dictators.”

Watch the interview:

Paul posed the following question to Anderson Cooper concerning Colonel Gaddafi:

“Why was it that four or five years ago we decided that he was a reformed person and we would start trading with him again, after we knew he was a thug and he’s been a thug for forty something years?”

On Cavuto Paul again struck out at the continuous revolving door of dictators that the US military industrial complex is involved with, as well as highlighting the financial fallout of endless war.

“The American people are sick and tired of this. We are in trouble here. We’re spending money overseas, we blow up countries and then we have to rebuild them at the same time we can’t even build our own infrastructure.”
