Paedophile Priest ‘Exposes Satanic Vatican Rent-Boy Sex Ring’
Huffington Post UK | By Sara C Nelson
A convicted paedophile priest has claimed a gay prostitution ring has been operating within the Holy Roman Church, with clergymen hiring underage rent-boys for sex.
Don Patrizio Poggi, who served a five-year prison sentence for abusing teenage boys at his Rome parish, also told Italian authorities a former Carabinieri police officer recruited boys for nine clergymen, IBTimes reports.
Poggi told the police: “I decided to file this complaint and cooperate with the law after long reflection and after a painful history of abuse and misuse of power that I have overcome thanks to the faith that guides me.”
The 46-year-old, who has complained that the Vatican refused to reinstate him after he completed his prison sentence, added: “I feel obliged to protect the Holy Church and the Christian community since I am aware of grave facts that undermine their integrity and break canon and penal law.”
Poggi has reportedly handed the names of 20 alleged child abusers in the Roman clergy – including four serving priests and a Monsignor – to the authorities.

Vatican Owns £21m Of Apartments In Same Rome Block Housing Europe’s Biggest Gay Sauna Europa Multiclub
So far, four people have formally been placed under investigation by Rome magistrates, The Times reports.
The newspaper adds: “His allegations gained some credibility from the fact he was accompanied by Monsignor Luca Lorusso, an adviser to the Papal Nuncio to Italy, who is himself a confidante of Pope Francis”.”
The former police officer is alleged to have procured mostly eastern European immigrant boys from gay discos, saunas and outside a bar near Rome’s central rail station known as “Twink”, where he used a vehicle marked “Emergency Blood” to avoid parking fines.
Poggi accuses the same man of “selling consecrated hosts for satanic rites.”
The allegations are rejected by the Vatican, CathNewsUSA reports.
Cardinal Agostino Vallini, head of the Catholic Vicariate of Rome said Poggi’s claims were made from a desire for vengeance.
He said: “The cardinal expresses his full confidence in the magistracy and declares himself fully convinced that this slander will be demolished, demonstrating Poggi’s claims to be untrue.
“God will hold everyone accountable for their deeds.”
Yale hosts workshop teaching sensitivity to bestiality
On Saturday afternoon, Yale hosted a “sensitivity training” in which students were asked to consider topics such as bestiality, incest, and accepting money for sex.
Sexologist Dr. Jill McDevitt.
During the workshop, entitled, “Sex: Am I Normal,” students anonymously asked and answered questions about sex using their cell phones, and viewed the responses in real time in the form of bar charts.
The session was hosted by “sexologist” Dr. Jill McDevitt, who owns a sex store called Feminique in West Chester, Pa.
Survey responses revealed that nine percent of attendees had been paid for sex, 3 percent had engaged in bestiality, and 52 percent had participated in “consensual pain” during sex, according to an article published in the Yale Daily News on Monday.
Event director Giuliana Berry ’14 told Campus Reform in an interview on Monday that the workshop was brought to campus to teach students not to automatically judge people who may have engaged in these sorts of activities, but rather to respond with “understanding” and “compassion.”
“People do engage in some of these activities that we believe only for example perverts engage in,” she said. “What the goal is is to increase compassion for people who may engage in activities that are not what you would personally consider normal.”
McDevitt referred to the range of activities discussed in the workshop as “sexual diversity.”
“It tries to get people to be more sensitive … to sexual diversity,” McDevitt told Campus Reform in an interview on Monday. “We’re not all heterosexual, able-bodied folks who have standard missionary sex.”
Several students submitted discussion topics about having incestuous sexual fantasies. Attendee Alex Saeedy ’15, told the News that he at first found this surprising, but then “thought it might be more of a psychological thing we all might have.
“I think that’s what the point of the workshop was — to bring up things we thought we so taboo and desire or urges we criticize are just regular parts of sexual psychology,” he said.
During the workshop, McDevitt taught the approximately 40 students that just because people think something is deviant does not mean that it is bad.
“It’s sensitivity training,” McDevitt told Campus Reform. “Don’t judge other people, because we all have something we are embarrassed about.”
The event was part of Yale’s Sex Weekend, which ran from Feb. 28 through March 3. Sponsors included Yale Women’s Center, Undergraduate Organizations Committee, the Sexual Harassment and Assault Response Education Center at Yale, and SeLF: The Sexual Literacy Forum.
Woman featured in Times story about sexual disorder commits suicide
By Leonora LaPeter Anton,
Persistent genital arousal disorder brings woman agony, not ecstasy
A woman who was featured in a Tampa Bay Times story that dealt with a rare sexual disorder was found dead of suicide late Saturday at her home in Spring Hill, according to the Hernando County Sheriff’s Office.
Sheriff’s officials did not provide details about how or when Gretchen Molannen died, but she was last seen alive Thursday at 11:30 p.m. Records show deputies responded to a suicide call about midnight Saturday night. The Times received emails from two of her friends confirming her death and lamenting that she wasn’t able to get the help she needed.
Molannen, 39, suffered from persistent genital arousal disorder, a debilitating condition marked by continuous sexual arousal. Women who have the disorder are physically but not psychologically aroused. Many must masturbate for hours for just a few minutes of relief. Some doctors believe the condition is caused by a nerve malfunction.
Molannen struggled with the disorder for 16 years. For the first 10 years, she had no idea what she had and suffered in silence. She tried to work, but the condition affected her job performance and she was unable to keep steady employment after 1999. She lived in Spring Hill with her parents — both now dead — and never told them what she was going through. In 2007, she saw a woman talk about the condition on the TV program 20/20 and finally realized what she had.
Molannen sought help from numerous medical professionals, but many had never heard of the condition. She couldn’t afford the tests or treatments that have worked for some sufferers.
She said the condition was so debilitating that she attempted suicide at least three times during the past year.
“I know that God wants more out of my life than having me testing out suicide methods, constantly crying and abusing myself,” she said in the story that was published on Tampabay.com on Friday and in the Times’ Floridian magazine on Sunday.
The Times found Molannen on Craigslist in early 2012; she was seeking help from medical professionals. She had no income and had filed for Social Security disability benefits. Her request had been rejected. She wanted someone to give her a free MRI so she could prove her condition to a judge.
Molannen agreed to tell her story last July. The Times interviewed her for a total of 10 hours, about half in person and half on the phone. In August, she went before a disability judge for a second time. He later rejected Molannen’s disability claim and she gave that rejection letter to the Times.
Last week, after the story had been written and edited but before it was published, it was read to Molannen word for word. Several small details were removed at her request.
Before publication, the Times thanked her over the phone and in an email for her help. She replied by email on Nov. 28:
“Thank YOU for taking an interest in doing a story for me! I am flattered that you cared so much to want to help. I just hope this will educate people that this is serious and really exists, and that other women who are suffering in silence will now have the courage to talk to a doctor about it. If men have suffered with the shame of impotence or even priapism, now it’s time for women to get help as well. Thank you for your patience with me and for devoting so much time to this. I’m sure your editor is very proud of your work and I’m excited to see my own story online.”
The Times tried to reach Molannen over the weekend by text, phone and email to see how she was doing. She did not respond.
On Monday, her boyfriend sent the Times an email, saying she had committed suicide and the story “won’t help her now.”
After publication, the Times received several offers to help Molannen, from both legal and medical professionals. Two women called, saying they had a similar problem and hoped to talk to Molannen about it. The story was also shared on a support group for women with persistent genital arousal disorder and many of the women responded. (For more information on the support group go to www.psas-support.com.)
“Wow, you are awesome, Gretchen,” a woman named Jill wrote. “You have suffered so, may God bless you for sharing your story that was difficult to read let alone live.”
Mothers Using Aspartame
In Pregnancy & Autism Epidemic:
The FDA Knew It Would Happen!
By Dr. Betty Martini, D.Hum
As Dr. James Bowen’s paper “Aspartame Murders infants” explained, the poison violates the Federal Genocide Law. Toxic mechanisms the doctor listed include:
Teratogen, it produces birth defects
Adjuvant, it forms antigenic tissue triggering immunologic attack
Chelation, promotes heavy metal poisoning.
Dr. Bowen said further: “Aspartame. sold as NutraSweet, AminoSweet, E951 and Equal, is in thousands of foods and diet drinks, as well as drugs. At every point in the fertility process APM destroys, beginning with the gleam in Mom and Pop’s eyes: it ruins female sexual response and induces male sexual dysfunction. Beyond this, aspartame disrupts fetal development by aborting it or inducing defects. And if a live child is born aspartame may have heinously damaged the DNA of the baby, cursing future generations.
So here we are in 2012 with a global epidemic of autism. Dr. Bill Deagle said:”The European Environmental Association has projected that with the rise of autism caused by toxic foods like Aspartame, MSG, Fluoride, and environmental degradation, by 2013 no one will be born in the Western World that does not to some degree have autism. Our board of AAEM, American Academy of Environmental Medicine and Dr. William Rae, director of the Dallas Environmental Clinic agreed in open discussion at the October 2010 annual meeting”.
In 1999 Parents Magazine featured the article What’s Happening to Our Children that said almost every family is involved. That’s because aspartame triggers behavioral and psychiatric problems, birth defects, and learning disorders. In Sweet Remedy, Cori Brackett’s sequel to the aspartame documentary Sweet Misery: A Poisoned World she interviewed the Finegold Association ADD people who said that before aspartame they didn’t even use the terms ADD and ADHD. See their report in our Report for Schools: www.mpwhi.com/report_on_aspartame_and_children.htm In his book Excitotoxins: The Taste That Kills neurosurgeon Russell Blaylock, M.D. explains that if a pregnant woman uses aspartame in pregnancy the damage may not become apparent until puberty, then it and may produce everything from dyslexia to behavioral problems.
With all we know today about aspartame no one in their right mind would do a study today on children, but one was done accidentally as is discussed inAspartame Disease: An Ignored Epidemic by H. J. Roberts, M.D., the 1038 page medical text on this poison. Dr Miguel A. Baret of the Dominican Republic removed milk from the diet of 360 children, because it has a specific protein that can cause diabetes, especially in children. They drank juice laced with aspartame instead. Many developed “abnormal restlessness, lack of concentration, irritability and depression.” When Dr Baret removed it: “The results were astonishing. Their symptoms disappeared in 4-6 days in ALL of them!” I remember when he called and said, “All I did was change their diet from milk to aspartame juice!!” Thank you, Dr Baret, for this study showing what aspartame does to the brains of our kids!
Dr. Morando Soffritti of the Ramazzini Institute in Italy has done three studies on aspartame showing it to be, in his own words: a multipotential carcinogen. The third study projected that a pregnant woman using aspartame could predispose the child to grow up to be a cancer victim. Aspartame produces the deadly brain tumor agent diketopiperazine. Such malignancies are now sprouting like mushrooms across America. In original studies it triggered uterine, ovarian, pancreatic, thyroid and testicular tumors.
I spoke with Jerome Bressler in 2001, author of the famous “Bressler Report”. He was terribly disturbed because two vital studies were removed from his report, and the public not warned. On November 27, 2001 Dr. H. J. Roberts wrote his Senator, Bill Nelson, on stating that important information had been withheld, saying: “Specifically, I need original copies of the two (2) mouse studies done at Searle Laboratories, which were reviewed by the inspection team of the Chicago District of the Center for Food Safety & Applied Nutrition between April September 1977”.
Jane Kirby for Melinda Plaisier, Associate Commissioner for Legislation wrote Senator Bill Nelson on April 18, 2002 and said:
“Additionally, some documents are considered confidential under FDA’s FOI regulations and in some instances the Agency cannot acknowledge the existence of such documents”.
These studies were withheld by the FDA without regard for the health and lives millions of children who could be sacrificed to protect the profits of aspartame’s manufacturers!
We obtained these records with the help of Dr. Madelon Price who worked with Dr. John Olney, founder of the field of neuroscience called excitotoxicity, but it took 8 years.
They were teratology studies (birth defects), showing horrible birth defects with the FDA admitting it. No wonder Jerome Bressler was so concerned. Dr. John Olney, world-renowned neuroscientist, tried to prevent approval of aspartame when he found aspartic acid caused lesions (holes in the brain) in mice. His first study is also in the Report for Schools above. He then wrote a 49 page report to the Board of Inquiry of the FDA asserting that birth defects would be a given, a certain result of aspartame consumption. www.wnho.net/dr_olney1.doc
The FDA at the time agreed with Dr. Olney and even revoked the petition for approval. After Don Rumsfeld got aspartame marketed through political chicanery the FDA promised Dr. Olney aspartame would never be allowed for babies or children. Today it’s in pediatric vitamins, over-the-counter pediatric drugs and even pediatric prescription drugs. We have even had SIDS reported from aspartame. Aspartame also damages the cardiac conduction system and causes sudden death.
Lane Shore, Mission Possible Chicago took Jerome Bressler his report with the comments from FDA on the two studies restored, prior to his death in January 2011. Even as he was dying in a nursing home/assisted living, he would tell people please don’t use aspartame because it’s poison. He was one of the last heroes of the FDA before it became Big Pharma’s Washington Branch Office and their loyalty went to the manufacturers, betraying the public trust.
You can read the complete Bressler Report with the teratology studies included at www.mpwhi.com/complete_bressler_report.pdf
Aspartame is an endocrine disrupting chemical, which stimulates prolactin, changing the menses and causing infertility. If a woman discontinues aspartame and becomes pregnant, and begins to use it again, nevertheless aspartame is an abortifacient that causes birth defects and mental retardation.
With this information you would be looking for an epidemic of infertility. April 23, 2012 USA Today wrote The New Face of Infertility: Under 35 and Frustrated. Ermelle Martinez, Mission Possible LA, looked forward to a family with children and a career in medicine. In her last year she was diagnosed as having MS and her husband had divorced her because he wanted children. When we got her off aspartame she began to ovulate but it was too late. She was now too old to have children. She never finished her last year in med school and never became a physician. The saddened stories of women who wanted a family and children have come in for years. When I was on WLW in Chicago I discussed this several times. One day a man called in who said he passed the information on to his daughter who had been trying for a decade to have children. He was happy to say she was able to get pregnant and he has now a grandchild, which he thought would never happen. Fertility clinics are full of women sipping diet pop with aspartame, never realizing that is why they are there.
In the autism epidemic the excuse used is better testing. Such foolishness. Having found records showing the FDA knew aspartame causes birth defects; I was overjoyed when Dr. Woodrow Monte told me he had secured four more studies showing aspartame causes birth defects that had been hidden. He recently published the book, ” While Science Sleeps”. In the final chapter he explains that the original manufacturer, G. D. Searle, made a deal with the FDA to seal records showing birth defects, so the public would never find out. The chapter with this information can be downloaded free from Dr. Monte’s web site: www.whilesciencesleeps.com/While%20Science%20Sleeps%20-%20Chapter%2012%20%28ref%29.pdf
You can get a hardcopy of the entire book from www.amazon.com
The records show aspartame causes cleft palate, several people have had to get a Cleft Rhinoplasty in new york city ny surgery due to aspartame. You can’t help but think of the organization, “Smile”, and Goldie Hawn’s favorite charity. It’s hard to comprehend how many millions of lives have been affected because a deadly chemical poison is marketed for human consumption. These tragedies didn’t have to happen. If aspartame was removed from the market imagine the billions of dollars saved on medical bills alone. So many lives shattered. One woman used diet pop through 3 pregnancies and has 3 autistic children. She and her husband work two jobs to care for them. There will be money in a trust to care for these children when their parents die.
One child out of 88 in the US is believed to have autism or a related disorder. Mark Roithmayr, president of Autism Speaks said, “Autism is now officially becoming an epidemic in the United States”. An AP article says the previous estimate was 1 in 110. The new figure is from the latest in a series of studies that have steadily raised the government’s autism estimate. This new number means autism is nearly twice as common as officials said it was five years ago, and affects roughly 1 million U.S. children and teens.
Dr. Woodrow Monte said: “The epidemic of Autism began 9 months after the introduction of aspartame into carbonated beverages. A recent questionnaire posts Lite Yogurt as one of the favored food during pregnancy of women who bore autistic children…..when will this madness stop?” Stewart Pape, Head of the National Yogurt Association has petitioned the FDA twice to allow aspartame in yogurt and other milk products without labeling. While this is against the law, the FDA has never answered the question, even though it was a Freedom of Information request.
See the chart showing autism has skyrocketed since aspartame was approved: www.mpwhi.com/autism_chart.htm.
Vaccines also cause autism with the mercury compound Thimerosal. Aspartame interacts with vaccines, and also is an adjuvant. Double trouble. Dr. Ken Stoller has made an hour presentation on Thimerosal and aspartame as factors in the autism epidemic. He wrote: “Multinational pharmaceutical corporations are now in control of U.S. vaccine policy and have gone on record that they need to advocate for the continued use of Thimerosal. Thimerosal has been reintroduced back into the routine vaccine schedule with pressure from WHO, the Brighton Collaboration and the CDC based on the strength of the flawed and fabricated research literature created for this purpose.
Dr. Stoller said today, “Autism, which continues to be unrecognized as an environmental encephalopathy, is being caused by a toxic soup of poisons from pesticides to heavy metals in vaccines. Aspartame, a known carcinogen and neurotoxin will eventually be recognized as playing a prominent roll in the mix of pernicious ingredients to which we have allowed ourselves to be exposed. Women who are heterozygous for the PKU gene will have an abnormally high spike in phenylalanine after consuming Aspartame. If they are pregnant, they will expose the fetus to very high levels of phenylalanine in utero and this could have untoward consequences on brain health in their offspring.”
As Dr Bowen said, at every point in the fertility process aspartame destroys. A Denmark study shows aspartame can jump premature births up to 78% www.mailonsunday.co.uk/health/article-1293495/Do-sweeteners-bring-early-birth-How-fizzy-drinks-harm-unborn-child.html
New Study: A new study is taking place. We are looking for mothers who used aspartame during pregnancy and their children were born with birth defects, ADD or behavioral problems. You can fill out this form – www.mpwhi.com/aspartame_autism_form.doc and send to Dr. Ralph Walton at [email protected]
Dr. W. C. Monte finally got secret FDA memo 37 years after G. D. Searle labs found birth defects in rabbits from aspartame. To this day aspartame is not listed as a teratogen because the FDA and G. D. Searle covered up the tests that were performed in l974 and 1975. When Monsanto bought G. D. Searle in 1985 they funded Dr. Diane Dow Edwards to study possible birth defects caused by the ingestion of aspartame. After preliminary data showed damaging information funding for the study was cut off. This is the way it’s done with aspartame manufacturers.
When Dr. Ralph Walton did a study Monsanto wouldn’t even sell him the chemical because they knew they would have no control over it. Sure enough the reactions were so severe the institution had to stop the study. Almost 100% of independent scientific peer reviewed studies on this poison show the problems. This is why you can’t ever accept an aspartame industry controlled or financed study. The manufacturer’s studies originally proved everything from birth defects and seizures to cancer. This is why they tried to cover it up as discussed in the Bressler Report. The FDA did try to have the company indicted for fraud but both US Prosecutors hired on with the defense team and the statute of limitations expired. You can’t take a chemical poison and have it show safety. No way!
Dr. John Olney was so upset over the shenanigans pulled by G. D. Searle he demanded they do studies in his laboratory where he could oversee them. Sure enough they showed brain damage so he thought aspartame would never be approved. He found out later they never gave the results to the FDA.
A Norway study some years ago showed aspartame causes brain damage especially in the area of learning. Dr. Louis Elsas, an eminent Pediatric Professor, Genetics, told Congress on 11/3/87 he had spent 25 years in the biomedical sciences “trying to prevent mental retardation and birth defects caused by excess phenylalanine. And herein lies my basic concern, that aspartame is in fact a well known neurotoxin and teratogen which, in some as yet undefined dose, will both reversibly in the adult and irreversibly in the developing child or fetal brain, produce adverse effects.”
The aspartame component aspartic acid is a powerful neurotransmitter that excites the brain’s neurons into hyperactivity until they exhaust and die. So there you have it, a bouquet of brain and neurological destroyers packed in little blue envelopes, sitting on every restaurant table in the western world, harvesting enough money to buy whatever bureaucratic blessings are necessary to kill us.
And remember that aspartame damages DNA, and thusly is capable of destroying humanity.

A shock tactic gone too far? New ad features senior citizens simulating sex positions to promote use of condoms
By Kristie Lau
An advertisement featuring senior citizens simulating sexual acts has sparked shock from consumers.
Too much? An ad campaign showing senior citizens in a series of different sexual positions has sparked shock among consumers
Visual impact: Though the seniors featured in the video are fully-clothed, the sexual nature of the positions is impossible to ignore
The video campaign, released by U.S. organisation SaferSex4Seniors.org, is designed to promote safe sex through use of condoms following news that STDs among sexually-active seniors in Florida had risen by 71per cent over the past five years.
But many believe the group, while promoting a worthy cause, has taken shock tactics too far.
The 30-second video, released on YouTube today, shows a group of elderly men and women mocking the performance of fellatio as well as other challenging sexual positions.
In one scene, a particularly strong man is holding a woman who is standing upside down on her elbows. Deadpan expressions are shown on their faces.
But Akila Gibbs, the executive director of the Pasadena Senior Center told Wsbt.com that he believes the ad detracts attention from the campaign’s cause.
He said: ‘I think it looks like they’re making fun of seniors, more than they’re educating them.’
Safer Sex For Seniors, aims to provide ‘accurate, up-to-date information from experts in the field’.
It is formed of an independent collective of professional sexuality educators, researchers, authors, trainers, counselors, and therapists and provides fact sheets and advice via its website
Gothamist.com added: ‘Nobody wants to think about – let alone picture – their Grandma doing it.’
Randy Matheson, a Canadian media blogger, was shocked by the footage.
He wrote on his blog: ‘While I can only hope that no hips were ‘dislodged’ in the making of this PSA featuring spry senior couples acting out positions from the Kama Sutra, I cramped up just watching the video.’
Twitter has drawn the comments of further shocked consumers.
High risk: The ad highlights the fact that the rate of STDs among sexually active seniors has risen by over 70per cent in the last five years
DDB, the New York-based advertising agency which produced the video has defended its campaign, describing it as a ‘strategic choice to use humor and shock value’.
A spokesman told Gothamist.com: ‘Rather than taking a negative approach that uses scare tactics and piles on statistics to deter unsafe sex, DDB made the strategic choice to use humor and shock value.
Powerful message: The payoff reads, ‘While there are many ways to do it… There’s only one way to do it safely
Safety firstThe makers of the ad want seniors to enjoy their sex lives responsibly
‘Whether the younger generation likes it or not, our grandparents are having sex.
‘We wanted to make a sexy ad that maintains a level of tastefulness and encourages seniors to enjoy their sex lives – safely.’
Study: Internet Access More Important Than Sex, Alcohol
Posted by: Soren Dreier
Americans are more connected than ever — at least to the Internet.
A new survey by The Boston Consulting Group (BCG) attempts to quantify just how much we value access to the World Wide Web and its findings are somewhat surprising.
Asked what they would give up for a year in order to maintain access to the Internet, 77 percent of Americans said they’d forgo chocolate, 73 percent alcohol, 69 percent coffee and 21 percent said they would go a whole year without sex.
BCG also tried to determine in dollar terms the worth of the Internet for most people living in the U.S. As it turns out, U.S. consumers would need to be paid roughly $2500 to live without the Internet for one year.
What do Americans value the most about the Internet? General search, e-mail and access to online banking and investing.
Dominic Field, partner at BCG and author of “The Connected World: The $4.2 Trillion Opportunity,” joined The Daily Ticker to discuss the report, which aims to uncover the impact of the Internet economy on the U.S. and global economies.
As you might imagine, the size and scope of the web and its uses and users are multiplying fast. There are currently 1.6 billion global Internet users today and by 2016 the number is expected to nearly double to 3 billion, or half the world’s population, says Field.
Today the Internet contributes $2.3 trillion to the global economy and is expected to grow to $4.2 trillion in about four years.
The Internet contributed $648 billion to the U.S. economy in 2010, or 4.7% of GDP; more than in any other country. To put that in perspective, the Internet economy is the eighth-largest sector in the U.S. and ahead of the Federal Government. Today, the Internet economy is growing at 6.5% a year in the U.S., one reason BCG believes this sector could eventually help propel the country out of recession.
– A small but growing number of teens and even younger children who think they were born the wrong sex are getting support from parents and from doctors who give them sex-changing treatments, according to reports in the medical journal Pediatrics.
It’s an issue that raises ethical questions, and some experts urge caution in treating children with puberty-blocking drugs and hormones.
An 8-year-old second-grader in Los Angeles is a typical patient. Born a girl, the child announced at 18 months, “I a boy” and has stuck with that belief. The family was shocked but now refers to the child as a boy and is watching for the first signs of puberty to begin treatment, his mother told The Associated Press.
Pediatricians need to know these kids exist and deserve treatment, said Dr. Norman Spack, author of one of three reports published Monday and director of one of the nation’s first gender identity medical clinics, at Children’s Hospital Boston.
“If you open the doors, these are the kids who come. They’re out there. They’re in your practices,” Spack said in an interview.
Switching gender roles and occasionally pretending to be the opposite sex is common in young children. But these kids are different. They feel certain they were born with the wrong bodies.
Some are labeled with “gender identity disorder,” a psychiatric diagnosis. But Spack is among doctors who think that’s a misnomer. Emerging research suggests they may have brain differences more similar to the opposite sex.
Spack said by some estimates, 1 in 10,000 children have the condition.
Offering sex-changing treatment to kids younger than 18 raises ethical concerns, and their parents’ motives need to be closely examined, said Dr. Margaret Moon, a member of the American Academy of Pediatrics’ bioethics committee. She was not involved in any of the reports.
Some kids may get a psychiatric diagnosis when they are just hugely uncomfortable with narrowly defined gender roles; or some may be gay and are coerced into treatment by parents more comfortable with a sex change than having a homosexual child, said Moon, who teaches at the Johns Hopkins Berman Institute of Bioethics.
It’s harmful “to have an irreversible treatment too early,” Moon said.
Doctors who provide the treatment say withholding it would be more harmful.
These children sometimes resort to self-mutilation to try to change their anatomy; the other two journal reports note that some face verbal and physical abuse and are prone to stress, depression and suicide attempts. Spack said those problems typically disappear in kids who’ve had treatment and are allowed to live as the opposite sex.
Guidelines from the Endocrine Society endorse transgender hormone treatment but say it should not be given before puberty begins. At that point, the guidelines recommend puberty-blocking drugs until age 16, then lifelong sex-changing hormones with monitoring for potential health risks. Mental health professionals should be involved in the process, the guidelines say. The group’s members are doctors who treat hormonal conditions.
Those guidelines, along with YouTube videos by sex-changing teens and other media attention, have helped raise awareness about treatment and led more families to seek help, Spack said.
His report details a fourfold increase in patients at the Boston hospital. His Gender Management Service clinic, which opened at the hospital in 2007, averages about 19 patients each year, compared with about four per year treated for gender issues at the hospital in the late 1990s.
The report details 97 girls and boys treated between 1998 and 2010; the youngest was 4 years old. Kids that young and their families get psychological counseling and are monitored until the first signs of puberty emerge, usually around age 11 or 12. Then children are given puberty-blocking drugs, in monthly $1,000 injections or implants imbedded in the arm.
In another Pediatrics report, a Texas doctor says he’s also provided sex-changing treatment to an increasing number of children; so has a clinic at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles where the 8-year-old is a patient.
The drugs used by the clinics are approved for delaying puberty in kids who start maturing too soon. The drugs’ effects are reversible, and Spack said they’ve caused no complications in his patients. The idea is to give these children time to mature emotionally and make sure they want to proceed with a permanent sex change. Only 1 of the 97 opted out of permanent treatment, Spack said.
Kids will more easily pass as the opposite gender, and require less drastic treatment later, if drug treatment starts early, Spack said. For example, boys switching to girls will develop breasts and girls transitioning to boys will be flat-chested if puberty is blocked and sex-hormones started soon enough, Spack said.
Sex hormones, especially in high doses when used long-term, can have serious side effects, including blood clots and cancer. Spack said he uses low, safer doses but that patients should be monitored.
Gender-reassignment surgery, which may include removing or creating penises, is only done by a handful of U.S. doctors, on patients at least 18 years old, Spack said. His clinic has worked with local surgeons who’ve done breast removal surgery on girls at age 16, but that surgery can be relatively minor, or avoided, if puberty is halted in time, he said.
The mother of the Los Angeles 8-year-old says he’s eager to begin treatment.
When the child was told he could get shots to block breast development, “he was so excited,” the mother said.
He also knows he’ll eventually be taking testosterone shots for life but surgery right now is uncertain. A TRT is a proven way to combat many health issues men face as they hit 35-40 years of age. If you want to learn what is TRT? we recommend checking out TRT UK a website that provides useful information to men with common symptoms associated with low testosterone.
The child attends a public school where classmates don’t know he is biologically a girl. For that reason, his mother requested anonymity.
She said she explained about having a girl’s anatomy but he rejected that, refused to wear dresses, and has insisted on using a boy’s name since preschool.
The mother first thought it was a phase, then that her child might be a lesbian, and sought a therapist’s help to confirm her suspicion. That’s when she first heard the term “gender identity disorder” and learned it’s often not something kids outgrow.
Accepting his identity has been difficult for both parents, the woman said. Private schools refused to enroll him as a boy, and the family’s pediatrician refused to go along with their request to treat him like a boy. They found a physician who would, Dr. Jo Olson, medical director of a transgender clinic at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles.
Olson said the journal reports should help persuade more doctors to offer these kids sex-changing treatment or refer them to specialists who will.
“It would be so nice to move this out of the world of mental health, and into the medical world,” Olson said.
Financial Sex Aid: Florida Co-Eds Seek “Sugar Daddy” for College Degree
– People who are looking for the perfect match, both men and women, go online seeking a certain kind of arrangement.
A “sugar baby” is typically younger and eager for adventure. A “sugar daddy” is usually an older, financially established provider. A website called www.seekingarrangement.com helps the two meet.
CBS4?s Jorge Estevez found a 22-year old who is looking for her first sugar daddy. She is a Miami student looking for someone to help her pay for her higher education and all the related expenses.
A self-proclaimed, cute blonde who is looking for fun in Fort Lauderdale admits to being a college student looking for some help.
And another pretty, young Miami college girl, who does not want to be identified, is more direct, asking specifically for 10 to 20-thousand dollars monthly. The 22-year old claims to be looking for someone who will never say ”NO” to her needs.
“The lesson here… ask and you shall receive,” she told Estevez.
“What have they given you?” asked Estevez.
“They have given me cars, trips, jewelry. These guys will take you out and they will court you,” she responded.
Jorge asked “What do these guys do for you?”
“They support you financially… financially,” she replied.
Support is proving to be crucial for a 20-year old sugar baby, who is in college at Florida International University.
“Have they paid your tuition?” asked Estevez.
“Books?” he asked.
“Books. Everything,” she responded. “When I say everything… I mean everything.”
In fact, her profile asks for someone to “help a young’in out”. And she is not alone. Numbers compiled by the “seeking arrangement” website showed that in the past six months, FIU ranked 20th in a list of the top universities with “sugar baby” sign ups.
Florida ranked third in the U.S. behind New York and California with 67,815 total users, of all ages. There are just over 1,000,000 and growing .
Our FIU student argued that it’s a way to survive the times.
“I don’t get support from my parents. As soon as I turned 18, they told me I am on my own. I have to figure everything out on my own Jorge.”
“And you discovered this? And you thought…?” asked Estevez.
“My dreams came true Jorge.”
“Your dreams came true,” he repeated.
Then his interview added, “But with every give… there is a take.”
“They give you trips. They pay for school. They give you presents. What do you give them?” asked Estevez.
“Sex,” said the FIU “sugar baby.”
“Just like that,” asked Jorge.
“Just like that,” she said.
“And you are OK with that?” Jorge probed.
“I am OK with that,” she replied.
But seeking arrangement, which began in 2006, insists they are not an escort service and specifies the terms of the relationship are left up to the two consenting users. Estevez spoke with the website’s founder, Brandon Lee.
“Why is this not like prostitution, since you mentioned it?” asked Estevez.
“We do not allow escorts or prostitutes to use the website. That is what I call a one or two-hour arrangement. It is not what this is about,” Lee said.
In fact, the website monitors profiles. They claim they shut down as many as 20-a day for alluding to inappropriate behavior.
“To make sure that terms such as hourly rate, in call, out call and terms like that aren’t used, we highlight them and catch them.
We put that question on the table for our “sugar baby.”
“What do you say to people who say this is a form of prostitution?” asked Estevez of our FIU student.
“That is not true,” she explained. “Prostitution is when you get paid for sex and that is just it. Sex. For this, you build a relationship with someone.”
It’s a relationship that begins online, a common practice nowadays, where one person logs on hoping to find another who is also in search of that perfect match.
“Years from now you are successful. What do you say to you about doing this?” Jorge inquired.
“They have money they want to help you. They see you struggling, They want to help you. Whether or not it is an arrangement… it is still a relationship,” the woman explained.
A match, found online, between two consenting adults looking for their own special arrangement.
So what is the ratio for these consenting adults? Well, most dating websites have more men than women. But at seekingarrangement.com, it’s the opposite. The ratio is 20 sugar babies to every one sugar daddy.
Seeking Arrangement is developing a mobile app for your smart phone and the website is going global with a Spanish language version and other languages.
LA Miramonte school suspends entire faculty over sex abuse claims
Two teachers are accused of committing lewd acts on children, leading to extraordinary move by district
The entire teaching staff has been suspended at Miramonte elementary school in Los Angeles, where two teachers have been arrested on suspicion of sexually abusing children.
The Los Angeles school superintendent, John Deasy, announced the extraordinary move, telling parents that replacement teachers would be taking over classrooms and psychiatric social workers would be placed with each class to help students and staff.
Miramonte teacher Mark Berndt was charged last week with committing lewd acts on 23 children, while Martin Springer was arrested on Friday suspected of abusing two girls in his classroom.
Berndt, who worked at the school for 32 years, abused children of ages six to 10 between 2005 and 2010, it is alleged. The acts cited by authorities include blindfolding children in a classroom and feeding them his semen in what children were allegedly told was a tasting game.
Berndt, 61, remains jailed on $23m (£14m) bail and could face life in prison if convicted. Springer, 49, is being held on $2m bail.
Springer taught at Miramonte for his entire career, which started in 1986, the district said. He taught second grade. The school board is scheduled to discuss firing him in a closed-door meeting on Tuesday.
Investigators said they knew of no connection between the Miramonte cases, though the Los Angeles Times said Berndt and Springer knew each other and had taken their classes on at least two joint field trips in the past decade.
More than a quarter of the students at Miramonte were absent on Monday while parents demanded more protection at the school.
About three dozen parents and supporters protested in front of the main doors of the school, some carrying a banner that read: “We the parents demand our children be protected from lewd teacher acts.”
Maria Jimenez, 51, said the parents whose children are enrolled at Miramonte were divided over the removal of the entire staff. “Some are in favour. Others are against it because they did this without advising us or consulting us,” Jimenez said.
Human trafficking is the possession of humans or their exchange for the purpose of engaging them in slavery and prostitution through the means of force and coercion. It is a thriving industry that continues to grow every year. It is feared, that human trafficking may soon outdo the illegal drug trade. Every day there are thousands of people falling victims to advertisements coaxing them with the promise of a better future. In several countries like India, the victims may have been abducted, deceived or even bought from their family members. They are vulnerable due to the lack of education, poor financial standing and absolute immaturity. Human trafficking affects at least 7 million lives each year, worldwide. Did you know? The Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) estimates that United States receives an estimated 50,000 people, annually, who are victims of human trafficking. From the view of the economy, health, psychology and the society, the effects of human trafficking are scary even in the long term, the traffickers are the only party that gains from this inhuman ordeal, raking up to $10 billion! Statistics published by the United Nations reveal that as of 2006, only 5,808 traffickers were prosecuted and 3,160 were convicted in the United States.
Most traffickers recruit their victims between the ages of 6 to 24, because a young victim will easily succumb to force and give in. They are forced into heavy physical labor in hazardous environment. Many are also taught the use of weapons and are recruited as ‘soldiers’ in armed conflicts. According to statistics by the U.S Department of State, globally 2 million children are trafficked into the sex trade each year. The children suffer from lack of self-esteem, emotional disturbance, disorientation and depression and are scarred for life. They develop deep psychological disorders that they struggle with the rest of their lives even if they have been rescued. Psychological vulnerability hinders them from having a healthy state of mind in the future. The children are likely to become withdrawn and tend be suicidal. Any children born to the victims of prostitution are taken away at the time of birth causing further mental agony to the mothers. In fact, the longer the victims have been enslaved, greater will be their traumatic experience.
‘Human Trafficking, Human Misery’, a book written by Alexis Aronowitz, states that an estimated 80% victims of human trafficking are sexually exploited, abused or forced into prostitution as most victims are young women and children. Such a victim probably might have to cater to anywhere between 8 to 15 clients in a day. The use of sexual protection is negligible in this industry, leaving the exploited at a high risk of contracting various sexually transmitted diseases and HIV/AIDS that they further pass on to the men and their partners. In some cases, victims of human trafficking are also subjected to substance abuse by being forced to take drugs. Such individuals also have to constantly battle with drug addiction. Improper supply of meals and the lack of nutritious food causes malnourishment in these entrapped victims. Poor living conditions also contribute to the development of various diseases that these victims suffer in later years. The victims are not given any medical aid to cure these ailments. Those recruited in chemical factories are treated like modern-day slaves and often succumb to occupational diseases and are quickly replaced by another lot of victims.
Human trafficking victims may be used as bonded labor in their own country or transported to another country whereupon arrival, their passports and migration documents are taken away from them, leaving them helpless and immobile. Sadly, they are often charged as collaborators of the crimes rather than being seen as victims. They are kept in very poor conditions with sub-standard clothing and food, unhygienic living conditions and no provision for healthcare. They are also often physically and sexually abused by their employers and ‘clients’ for non-compliance with demands. This is a very gruesome picture of the face of our society, hiding behind a wall. Another point to be noted here is that, the victims are deprived of education and all human rights. The victims always struggle to gain acceptance in society from the stigma after being rescued. Human trafficking often intermingles with other crimes such as smuggling of drugs and ammunition. Corruption is so widespread in our world that the greed for wealth only helps social evils like human trafficking from flourishing with no stops. In such a scenario, the development of a stable and robust society seems like a distant dream.
According to the International Labor Organization (ILO), human trafficking generates $31.6 billion estimated illicit profit worldwide! As calculated by the CIA, a trafficker earns up to $250,000 per victim of the sex trade in a year. Of this sum, the victim is paid a trivial amount or nothing at all on the pretext of clearing up debts and paying for expenses such as food, clothing and lodging. While, the victims of slavery are also paid very meager wages for strenuous physical labor which prevents them from fleeing. Availability of such cheap labor hinders employment opportunities and subsequently, reduces per capita income of the nation. The financial repercussions of human trafficking cannot be overlooked. In fact, the network of traffickers has gained immense financial strength which allows such illegal activities to thrive without the fear of law. Illegal immigration is also a threat to the national security and a cause of concern for governments worldwide. It gives rise to other ills such as terrorism, poverty, poor standard of living, unemployment, expanding population, wastage of resources, high crime rates and lack of enforcement of law and order in the country. These factors slow down economic growth of the nation.
Often the victims of human trafficking are subjugated by the burden of debts and pressured into forced labor. Debt bondage is a criminal offense in the United States and yet everyday people are being enslaved. The wealth gains from human trafficking are redirected to legal activities by investing in businesses or funding public affairs in order to launder that money. Along with forced cheap labor, this creates unnecessary competition for genuine businesses. But, above all, the loss of valuable human resources is the most regrettable. It is an undue waste of productivity and development. In fact, it is a disgrace to humanity. This article highlights the effects of this social evil but there are still facts about human trafficking that are unknown to many.
DETECTIVES investigating a spate of kidnappings and sex attacks on male hitchhikers by female rapists have made three arrests.
Police seized 31 used condoms with semen after a chance breakthrough when a suspect vehicle was involved in an accident in Lower Gweru.
More than a dozen attacks, thought to be for ritual purposes, have been reported mainly in the Midlands and Masvingo provinces. A few more attacks have been reported in Harare and Mashonaland West.
Midlands police chief Senior Assistant Commissioner Charles Makono said officers at an accident scene had their suspicions aroused when three women, including the girlfriend of the vehicle’s driver, approached them with an odd request.
“They wanted the officers to allow them to collect a stash of used condoms which were located in the boot of the vehicle,” said Chademana.
The three women, named as Rosemary Chakwizira, 24, Sophie Nhokwara, 26, and Netsai Nhokwara, 24, all from Mkoba 4, Gweru, were immediately arrested along with the male driver on suspicion of multiple counts of indecent assault.
The driver also faces culpable homicide charges after the fatal accident in which a pedestrian was run over and killed.
Now police are asking for victims to come forward to an identity parade to pick their attackers. Police also hope to match the semen to some of the victims through DNA testing.
Typically, male hitchhikers on Zimbabwe’s main highways are offered a lift. The drivers are sometimes male, but usually female.
The hitchhikers are then drugged – sometimes by having a cloth with a mystery substance pulled over the faces or through an injection – before they are driven to dark spots or safe houses where the attacks occur.
The victims are forced to be intimate with the female attackers, sometimes without protection, but where a condom is used, semen is collected.
Victims are typically stripped of their possessions before being dumped by the roadside.
In October last year, police chief Augustine Chihuri was forced to address the unusual crimes, warning that the rapists would be would “professionally dealt with accordingly without fear or favour”.
“Let me warn all social miscreants who are soiling the country’s social fabric, cultural norms and values by perpetrating abominable and weird activities of women sexually molesting men, sometimes at gunpoint, to stop the practices forthwith,” he warned.
Taking Birth-Control Pills May Mask the Signals That Draw the Sexes Together, Research Shows
By SHIRLEY S. WANG
Much of the attraction between the sexes is chemistry. New studies suggest that when women use hormonal contraceptives, such as birth-control pills, it disrupts some of these chemical signals, affecting their attractiveness to men and women’s own preferences for romantic partners.
Researchers say birth control pills are upending the natural influence of hormones on attraction. WSJ’s Shirley Wang reports on a new study in lemurs that show how contraceptives may influence the way the primates pick and choose their mates.
The type of man a woman is drawn to is known to change during her monthly cycle—when a woman is fertile, for instance, she might look for a man with more masculine features. Taking the pill or another type of hormonal contraceptive upends this natural dynamic, making less-masculine men seem more attractive, according to a small but growing body of evidence. The findings have led researchers to wonder about the implications for partner choice, relationship quality and even the health of the children produced by these partnerships.
Evolutionary psychologists and biologists have long been interested in factors that lead to people’s choice of mates. One influential study in the 1990s, dubbed the T-shirt study, asked women about their attraction to members of the opposite sex by smelling the men’s T-shirts. The findings showed that humans, like many other animals, transmit and recognize information pertinent to sexual attraction through chemical odors known as pheromones.
The study also showed that women seemed to prefer the scents of men whose immune systems were most different from the women’s own immune-system genes known as MHC. The family of genes permit a person’s body to recognize which bacteria are foreign invaders and to provide protection from those bugs. Evolutionarily, scientists believe, children should be healthier if their parents’ MHC genes vary, because the offspring will be protected from more pathogens.
Couples dancing in a ballroom. When women are ovulating, they tend to be drawn to men with greater facial symmetry and more signals of masculinity, such as muscle tone, a more masculine voice and dominant behaviors.
What happens to a woman during her most fertile days?
Her voice becomes higher pitched.
Men are more attentive to her, with behavior ranging from thoughtful to jealous.
Her scent becomes more attractive to men.
She seeks men with more masculine features.
Her social behavior changes, including increased flirting.
She tries to look more attractive and may choose more-revealing clothing.
If she is with a less masculine man, she may feel less attracted to him.
More than 92 million prescriptions for hormonal contraceptives, including pills, patches and injections, were filled last year in the U.S., according to data-tracker IMS Health.
Researchers say their aim isn’t to scare or stop women from taking hormonal contraceptives. “We just want to know what we’re doing” by taking the pill, says Alexandra Alvergne, a researcher in biological anthropology at University College London in the U.K. “If there is a risk it affects our romantic life and the health status of our children, we want to know.” Dr. Alvergne last year published a review detailing the existing literature on the topic in the journal Trends in Ecology and Evolution.
Both men’s and women’s preferences in mates shift when a woman is ovulating, the period when she is fertile, research has shown. Some studies have tracked women’s responses to photos of different men, while other studies have interviewed women about their feelings for men over several weeks. Among the conclusions: When women are ovulating, they tend to be drawn to men with greater facial symmetry and more signals of masculinity, such as muscle tone, a more masculine voice and dominant behaviors. The women also seemed to be particularly attuned to MHC-gene diversity. From an evolutionary perspective, these signals are supposed to indicate that men are more fertile and have better genes to confer to offspring.
Women tend to exhibit subtle cues when they are ovulating, and men tend to find them more attractive at this time. Women try to look more attractive, perhaps by wearing tighter or more revealing clothing, says Martie Haselton, a communications and psychology professor at the University of California, Los Angeles. Research on this includes studies in which photos that showed women’s clothing choices at different times of the month were shown to groups of judges. Women also emit chemical signals that they are fertile; researchers have measured various body odors, says Dr. Haselton, who has a paper on men’s ability to detect ovulation coming out in the journal Current Directions in Psychological Science.
Such natural preferences get wiped out when the woman is on hormonal birth control, research has shown. Women on the pill no longer experience a greater desire for traditionally masculine men during ovulation. Their preference for partners who carry different immunities than they do also disappears. And men no longer exhibit shifting interest for women based on their menstrual cycle, perhaps because those cues signaling ovulation are no longer present, scientists say.
Some women using birth-control pills have long reported changes to their libido and mood. Research is still in the early stages to explore the implications of taking hormonal contraceptives for women’s choice of mates and for fidelity in relationships. Researchers speculate that women with less-masculine partners may become less interested in their partner when they come off birth control, contributing to relationship dissatisfaction. And, if contraceptives are masking women’s natural ability to detect genetic diversity, then the children produced by parents who met when the woman was on the pill may be less genetically healthy, they suggest.
“We don’t have enough research to draw a firm conclusion yet,” says Dr. Haselton. “It is certainly possible that if women don’t experience that little uptick in [desiring] masculinity that they end up choosing less masculine partners,” she says.
That could prompt some women to stray, research suggests. Psychologist Steven Gangestad and his team at the University of New Mexico showed in a 2010 study that women with less-masculine partners reported an increased attraction for other men during their fertile phase. Women partnered with traditionally masculine partners didn’t have such urges, according to the study of 60 couples.
In another study, the researchers analyzed MHC gene samples of 48 couples. Women partnered with men with whom they shared the least genetic diversity reported being less sexually responsive to their mates. The study was published in 2006 in the journal Psychological Science.
There is also accumulating evidence indicating men react differently to women when they are on birth control. A 2004 study in the journal in Behavioral Ecology used the T-shirt study methodology but instead put the shirts on 81 women. A panel of 31 men, smelling the T-shirts, experienced the greatest attraction for the non-pill-using women when they were ovulating. Twelve women on the panel didn’t detect any difference.
A study on primates appears to support the idea that hormonal contraceptives change mating preferences. Duke University researchers studied hormones secreted by female lemurs before and after the animals received a hormonal contraceptive. They also studied males’ preferences for these scents.
The findings, published in the journal Proceedings of the Royal Society, Biological Sciences this year, showed that the injection of Depo-Prevara, a long-lasting contraceptive that is approved for use in humans, dramatically altered the chemicals that female lemurs give off to indicate their identity and how genetically healthy they are.
The females given the contraceptive became overall less appealing to the males than before getting the injection, says Christine Drea, a professor in Duke’s evolutionary anthropology department and senior author on the study. The contraceptive erased all the normal information the odor signals conveyed, she says.
Though the study would need to be conducted in humans to draw direct conclusions, there are potential parallels to people, Dr. Drea says. Birth control “could be mixing up your own [signals] and others aren’t smelling the real you,” she says.
